"You have another girlfriend?" I asked shocked, here I was trying to fall for a guy who not only had a girlfriend but was cheating on her with another. He's a player!

"Had." he said plainly, taking the necklace from my hands and laying it back in the trunk. He flipped over the weary carpeting of the trunk and slipped the necklace underneath before covering it up. "Had." he repeated, slamming the trunk down.

"Don't cheat on Julie," no matter how much of a bitch she was, she didn't deserve a lying relationship. I put in my two cents and began to direct my bike towards the back of my house, hearing his soft feet hitting the grass from behind.

That's why he rejected me at the lake.

I sighed, he seemed to hear because he stopped me in my tracks.

"Please, don't mention that necklace to Julie, okay?" he said pleading. I nodded but kept walking towards my shed, still listening as he followed. I opened my shed, rolling the air pumped wheels onto the wooden floor, hearing his shoes thud on the floor. I turned to face him.

"What happened to her?" I questioned curiously, he went pale and stuffed his hands in his pockets, he licked his lips and looked down at his shoes. I shook my head and elbowed my way past him, I've been here for almost three weeks and still haven't heard about Carter, my supposed friend. I wanted to lock the doors but he stood there,  back facing me.

"I need to lock the door." I stated passively,  leaning my chin against the back of my hand. He said nothing, staying still, a sing-song voice rang out from behind us making him go rigid.

"Hi babe!" Julie smiled looking at me. She stepped into the shed making me roll my eyes, "babe, I don't want to be here anymore." Julie whined.  I saw his head shift to look at her as she smiled brightly at him.  They moved in sync, stepping out of the shed.

"Neither do I." he muttered as he passed me.

I decided it was best to do my winter dress shopping out of town. Nothing super dressy though, but a flowy white dress would do the trick. My mom was able to get off of work and would help me along the way.

"So I was thinking a light green!" she cheered, smiling and looking at me for approval.

"What?" I asked incredulously. A light green winter dress.

"It will work! I was going for Christmas theme. I can probably sew on a few sequins if it looks too basic." I shook my head, there was no way I was going to the dance in two days looking like an elf.

Parking at a small boutique, we headed inside, the dresses were sectioned off towards the back. Before we could even step inside a woman rushed up to my mom, grinning widely at us both.

"Marissa!" she called my mother's name loudly. "I haven't seen you since highschool, you didn't age at all!" she complimented, of course my mother bashed in her joyous moment and the two of them scurried off to gossip. I wandered to the back of the store going through the racks of clothes by myself.

I felt a cool tap on my shoulder. Turning blinding smile from Travis.

"Hey beautiful. Did you come here to help me pick out my dress?" he joked, leaning in to my ear, "or just to flirt with me again?" I blushed, continuing to look through the rack. I found two that looked cute enough for the occasion and spread them on top of the cool metal bar holding onto the clothing hangers.

"I like those." he said, pointing to the ones I had picked out. I nodded and bit my lip, I had found this boutique so I would see as few people from school as possible, but Travis was just being nice and was actually the only male company I was enjoying. I broke into a smile when I held up a bright red dress with sections of darker red fringe on it.

"I think your curves will come through in this one." I said seriously to Travis, whose face contorted into disgust.  I giggled, which turned a snort which earned an outburst from Travis. He bent over, laughing and clutching his stomach, I nearly died too honestly not seeing what was so funny but that his chuckles were so heart warming. Sliding my weak legs backwards, even stumbling a bit, I bumped into a person behind me.

Mom.

"Elizabeth! Gosh, have you picked out a dress yet?" she looked at me with a slightly frustrated look. I went red, seeing as Travis was now staring at the two of us.

"Hello, I'm Travis Porter. Your daughter's date to the dance." he greeted, shaking my mom's hand.

"Oh my gosh! Then shoo, you can't see her dress!" my mother panicked, pushing Travis away. He looked at me over her shoulder, licking his lips and mouthing the simple words.

Call Me.

I smiled and nodded my head at him before it was returned with his own contagious grin, walking away while stuffing his hands in his own pockets. He traveled down an aisle with tuxedos, which is probably what he had come here for. I showed my mother the two dresses I had picked out for myself, but she waved them away with her hand before reaching behind her for a dress I could only dream of wearing.

It was white, with a flouncy bottom. It's heart shaped neckline without straps made it sexier than needed but it also had an innocent, alluring look with the glinting sparkles over the top half. Of course my mom chose it because of the lime green sparkles, but I didn't care because it was an excellent choice! I snatched it out of her hand examining it.

"How much is it?" I gaped, looking at the mesh underneath the skirt of the dress.

"mmm... roughly $175, but I have a little bit of savings and I can afford it." she said proudly. I hugged her, a sixteen year old can only afford so much, right? "Hey, don't give me the full credit, I couldn't have found it without that young lady's help over there." I followed her finger to a young girl whose long brunette hair had been tied back, she looked over her shoulder just as I met her eyes. She smiled on contact and waved.

Illiana.
