Too many dreams,
Too many goals,
But just one heart,
With too many holes.

Burning, bleeding, suffering heart.
Shattered, weeping, dying heart.
"But you still beat,
How my heart?"

Wounds inflicted,
Words etched deep,
Sorrow buried,
Fear always creep.

Drowning, choking, suffering heart.
Freezing, broken, dying heart.
"But you still beat,
How my heart?"

Words left unheard,
Sorrow gone unseen,
Tears that never shed,
All inside this heart have been.

Tearing, screaming, suffering heart.
Falling, lamenting, dying heart.
"But you still beat,
How my heart?"

Memories that hurt,
Faces that scream,
Knives that stab,
Being forgotten like a dream.

Forgotten, stabbed, suffering heart.
Hung, shot, dying heart.
"But you still beat,
How my heart?"

A ray of hope,
A warm light,
A kiss of love,
Happiness in sight.

Healing, mending, sustaining heart.
Recovering, smiling, living heart.
"You always beat,
Oh my heart."

But like a wave,
It came and went,
Happiness lost,
Now everything's spent.

Disgraced, defeated, suffering heart.
Buried, eaten, dead heart.
"But you stopped to beat,
Why my heart?"
