#5 Paper Airplane

I am a paper airplane,
Folded by your tender hands,
A light blue I wear,
Looking at the sun's strands.

With a joyous smile, you leave me to fly,
In the sky that looked so boundless,
My blue matched the blue of the sky,
As I took my flight, my feet were now groundless.

My joy was uncontainable,
As the sky looked so dear,
I saw the birds flying with me,
Their voices I could hear.

You ran behind me,
Your face plastered with a smile,
But I flew too far for you to reach,
I forgot you were so fragile.

I could no longer hear you,
I no longer saw your face,
As my blue slowly began to fade,
I too was losing my grace.

I began tumbling,
In the sky which slowly grew dark,
The birds were no longer singing,
I was losing my mark.

Eventually I lost my strength,
And began to fall in the abyss,
I began to lose my blue,
And you were the one I'd miss.

As I fell on the ground,
Alone I laid,
In the cold and dark night,
Where all the blue had fade.

I was afraid,
Of never being able to fly again,
I was afraid,
Of never seeing your face again.

Till I felt the warmth,
Of your tender hands,
As they picked me up,
I could now see the moon's strands.

You smiled at me,
And I did the same,
For another flight,
We were ready again.
