After half an hour of searching you finally managed to find your dorm: you still don’t know how you did it to be honest. You just walked and turned and eventually ended up at the front door of the building. Stepping inside you take in the atmosphere. It’s a huge hallway and it’s neatly decorated. You can tell it’s a girls dorm for sure. To the left you find a comfortable sitting area while to the right there is a huge announcement board. You decide to let things be and go find your room first. You’re curious what kind of girl will be your roommate.
You’re really just a loner – you prefer sitting alone at a table with a coffee and a book to read rather than spending time with a group. Not that you don’t have any friends, or don’t like them, you’re just keen on your own time. It gives you a chance to escape this hectic world every once in a while.
You’re normally an easy person to be around with and don’t have problems with others fast. You’re open for any kind of friends and you don’t judge them.
Roaming past the rooms and checking their numbers you finally found yours. 24. You take a deep breath and knock the door.
Here it goes.
As the door opens a small, widely grinning girl stands in front of him.“Annyeong! Come in, you must be ___?”
You take your suitcase and walk pass the girl. “Yes, I am” you answer shyly, a little taken back by the happy smiling girl.
“I’m Cho Hee! I tried to clean the place but I’m a little bit of a messy person, I hope you won’t mind” she shrugs and rants the sentence in one breath only to take a deep breath at the end of it.
You chuckle. “It’s fine, I’m not really tidy either~”
“Shall I help you unpack?” she offers friendly. You have the feeling you could become really good friends. For one, she’s not as fake as the other girls you’ve seen today and as for your concern she’s really genuine.
While unpacking the both of you start to get to know each other. She’s as old as you are: seventeen. She’s from Singapore but moved to Seoul when here parents got divorced and she wanted to stay with her mom. She has a little brother who’s still in Singapore whom she really misses. Taking a break from unpacking she shows some photos and tells you something about the school and its students. She really seems to be a positive and bright girl even though she’s been through a lot.
“And what’s living in a dorm like? I never really lived in an apartment or anything..” you confess, feeling slightly embarrassed.
“Aahh! It’s fun!” she exclaims happily. You’re getting used to her cheerfulness. “If you have nice neighbours..”
“Wea? What happened?” you ask, storing your clothes.
“I don’t know. She doesn’t seem to like me – or anyone for that matter. It’s okay, she won’t be a bother. Just be careful when you walk into her, she can be really vicious.”
This is the first time since you’ve met Cho Hee her face isn’t bright. A sadness showing through her eyes makes you wonder what really happened. You can’t imagine someone not liking her – as cheerful as she is. You sigh. “Well, how about a small tour around this building? I’m aching to see more, but I’m a sucker for getting lost.” You laugh. A smile re-appears on Cho Hee’s face.
“Chincha? Come!” and she drags you outside, only to bump into a person. It was her.
