Noah scanned the aisles of the library, looking for the book he had been thinking about all day.
Keith had mentioned it earlier at work, and he was excited to read it.
His hand guided him as he scanned the spines of the bookshelves.
"Need some help?" A voice asks.
He turns to see Keith standing next to him.
"If you're willing." Noah responds, standing up from his crouched position he had been in.
"What are you looking for?" Keith asks.
"The book you mentioned at work today." Noah says. "I've been looking for it."
"I know where it is." Keith said, motioning for Noah to follow him. "I want to check out another book by that author anyways."
Noah grinned, following Keith as they weaved their way through the library.
"So what are your plans for the weekend?" Noah asked curiously.
"Just hanging around, ya know." Keith answered. "The usual."
"Do you want to meet up here again on Saturday?" Noah asked. "We can talk about the book together. It's Wednesday now, but I'm a fast reader. I'll get it done, even though we have work."
"Sounds great." Keith said with a smile. "We can text about the details."
The two finally arrive where the book Noah was looking for is.
Keith pulls it off the shelf and hands it to him.
"See you at work tomorrow." Keith says.
"Same to you!" Noah says enthusiastically, walking to check out the book.
As Noah's going back to his place, he gets some instant mac-and-cheese from the store. He was just hungry. And mac-and-cheese made him happy, just like the idea of Saturday with Keith did.
Noah was bi. And Courtney was the only one who really knew it. He knew he could trust her, so when he realized it, he thought of her as the first person to turn to.
Keith was gay. He coincidentally had told Courtney as well.
Neither had known that about each other. But, each other were the reasons they'd figured out their sexualities.
Noah spent the next few days reading his book. It turned out to be amazing, as Noah had expected. It had relatable characters and a unique storyline.
Saturday had finally come around, and the two boys were meeting up at the library, and were likely going to lunch afterwards.
Noah sat at a table in the back of the library, waiting for Keith. The book was next to him, as he was ready to discuss it. He had marked the parts he wanted to talk about.
Keith strolled into the library, his eyes scanning the tables scattered all around. His eyes finally landed on the table Noah was at, waiting.
Keith readied himself before walking over to him. He took a few deep breaths before heading over.
"Hey." Keith said, sliding into the chair.
"Hi." Noah said, smiling widely.
"So you finished the book?" Keith questioned.
"Yes!" Noah exclaimed. "I loved it!"
"What was your favorite part?" Keith asked.
"Definitely when those two guys got together." Noah said.
Keith nodded. "It's almost as if it was like-"
"Fate." The two said at the same time, but were embarrassed by that a moment after.
"Can you believe the twist ending?" Keith asked.
"No!" Noah said. "I'm so excited for the next book to come out."
"It comes out in your birthday, I think." Keith says, pondering.
"You're getting me that for my birthday." Noah says, smiling.
"Of course." Keith responded with a grin.
The two discussed for what felt like hours, but turned out to be about 20 minutes.
"Man, we're talkative." Keith said.
"I know, right?" Noah replied with a chuckle. "Do you wanna go get some lunch?"
"Totally." Keith said happily. "There's a great burger place right by here."
"Let me just return this book, then you can lead the way." Noah said, frantically pulling out his sticky notes before returning the book.
The two walked together, still doing some book discussion. The burger place wasn't too far away, though, but they still had a good talk about the book.
"Can I say something weird?" Noah says hesitantly.
"Same here." Keith said.
They had a brief 'No, you go first' argument, before deciding to say the stuff at the same time.
"3..." Noah started.
"2..." Keith counted.
"1..." Noah finished.
"I think I like you. Like-like you." They both said at the same time.
"Wait, really?" They said yet again in unison. "Stop doing that!"
They were sent into a fit of laughter after that.
"But seriously?" Keith questioned.
"Seriously." Noah said, with a flirty wink to Keith.
"Good." Keith said, lacing his hand with Noah's.
Their lunch out had turned into a great first date instead.
