What is that smell? It smells amazing... Like.. A man that ran through the woods. It smells like a woodsy man.

What?

As we approach the meeting room, the smell gets stronger and better and all I can think is, God do I want to drown in this.

Oh man... It's really nice.

I can't stand it anymore, "Lisa, what in God's good name is that amazing smell? I need to buy it for my house. You think they sell it Bath & Body or something?"

She turns to look at me. "What smell?"

"The one that has been permeating throughout this entire building? It's intoxicating." I close my eyes and take a deep breath.

I turn back to Lisa who has slowed her pace and is looking at me with shock filled eyes. "Amelia... My records say that if-"

One of the men joining us held the door open and interrupted Lisa mid-sentence, "Mrs. Holstein, Miss Thatcher."

We walk in and the scent hits me like a sack if potatoes. Not only that, but my heart rate starts to pick up..fast. Damn I know I'm nervous but I didn't think I'd be that nervous to meet a bunch of guys.

I place my folder and notepad between my arm and rub my hands over my thighs. Oh God... Why am I so nervous?

There are three men in the room, but my eyes immediately, almost instinctively, catch the eyes of the man in the center. Sweet baby Jesus. If I die with that man face as the last thing I see, I'll be in peace. Our gazes are locked and everyone else in the room fades away. He's got the most beautiful golden amber eyes, golden amber eyes that have put me in a trance. I'm too lost in his eyes to notice anything else about him or the fact that everyone in the room is staring at us staring at each other.

Then, he growls. Yup. He growls out one single word in a deliciously sexy voice that shakes me to my core, "Mine."

That one word and my knees tremble and my trance is broken. What in the hell? He is looking at me with so many emotions it's a wonder I didn't combust on the spot.

Gasps erupt in the room. The men sitting to his left and right simply smirk and pat his shoulder. While Lisa and the man who entered with us look from me to the man, back to me, then to the man again. The members that came in with us looking more lost than puppy.

Lisa is the one to break the silence, "Alpha Maddox, this is Amelia Thatcher, daughter of the former governor."

His steely gaze flicks to Lisa then back to me, and in an instant his gaze turns emotionless. What I saw when he, Alpha Maddox, looked at me was replaced by utter boredom.

Ouch... Like ouch. Is he mad at me?- wait. Why do I care?

He turns to Lisa, "She comes with me, or the agreement we made ends today." Shit. If his eyes are like golden honey, then his voice is as deep and rich as molasses...if that makes sense.

Wait, wait, wait. Hold the flipping phone here.

I clear my throat, "Um excuse me? Alpha Maddox?," he growls, "I really, sincerely hope that you aren't talking about me. I'm not going anywhere."
