I stare wide-eyed at Marina, who looks the opposite of frightened. She actually looks an odd combination of amused and annoyed. "Simon, you idiot. You scared her."
I hear a laugh, turning I see a guy. He can't possibly be older than me, twenty tops. His chocolate skin, impeccably smooth, so smooth it looks fake. With the deepest brown eyes ever, and his hair style in an afro-like bun. He sends me a wink, "Hey doll, I'm Simon."
I wave. Marina gets up and stands next to him, throwing an arm over his shoulder. "Simon, this is Amelia, Kaiden's mate. She's human too."
My eyes grow wide, "Too? Didn't you say you could smell me?"
"Doll, there are perks to Marking a werewolf. I'm sure Marina told you about the heightened senses?"
"So I will be able to do that too?" I wonder aloud.
Simon laughs, then puts a hand over his heart. "Oh, hun, this is the cutest! I remember being like her!"
Marina slaps his chest playfully, "Oh hush, it's only been two months since you and Tate found each other."
Hold up. Tate?!
"Tate? Kaiden's stoic body guard?" I eye the both of them.
Simon let's out a loud laugh, while Marina snorts and rolls her eyes. "That's my man. Although, he isn't a bodyguard doll. You'll get used to him. He can be amazing when he wants to be." Simon pauses, thinking about something. After a minute he gasps, "Tate is home!! Omg I didn't even realize!" He scrambles giving Marina a sloppy hug, and rushes to me and does the same. "Amelia, hun, if ever you wanna talk, yknow, human to human I'm here for you baby girl." He calls to me as he rushes out.
Marina and I stare at the door he just exited. "Well, he's fun." I state with a small laugh.
"You don't even know the half of it. He was a goddess sent when Evan rejected me."
I raise my brows, "Woah, Marina, that's pretty rece--" I stop mid-sentence when I hear Kaiden.
Amelia? Amelia where are you? Are you in the kitchen? A pause... With Marina?
I stare at Marina, "How does he know I'm in the kitchen with you."
She simply smiles and taps her nose.
Uh...yeah. I respond. I just ate with her. Instead of hearing a response, the kitchen doors open to reveal Kaiden, looking unbelievably handsome in some dark blue jeans and regular white tee. A tee, I might add, that did nothing to hide the contents beneath it.
We both just stare at each other for a second. Marina looks at me, then her brother, then back at me. "I'm just gonna go." She walks towards the door, pausing when she reaches Kaiden, "You take care of her big brother, or I swear on the goddess I will gauge your eyes and shove them so far up your behind, they'll come out of your nose. She's a sweet girl."
I hold in a laugh, while Kaiden on the other hand looks mortified. Marina flips her hair and walks out. Throwing a goodbye my way.
Kaiden and I look at each other once more before I decide to break the silence. "Sup." Then mentally slap myself. Sup, really?! Kaiden doesn't seem to mind as he laughs
"So, you met Marina." He rests his head on his hand, facing me.
I nod, "And Simon, Tate's mate."
Kaiden breaths out a laugh. He crosses his arms and lays his head to rest on them, like a kid falling asleep in class. I realize how tired he actually looked when he came in, how tense and taunt with stress his muscles are now. Not knowing what else to do, I place a hand gingerly on his shoulder. His muscles immediately relaxing under my touch. "Kaiden," I start, "You've been up since three in the morning, you should go rest."
