barry walked home, words resonating in his head."stop this 'bad boy' facade, you have the power to do something good for a change, why can't you?"
he kicked pebbles subconsciously, and soon arrived to his bus stop. he usually never felt any remorse for anything he ever did. or at least he thought he didn't feel anything. truth be told, he was numb.
he was a badass, sure. he had the potential to be the heartthrob of the school, if he wasn't such a delinquent. he got detention almost everyday, his foster parent never really being home to care.
his foster dad took him in, when his mom was murdered right before his eyes. in the end, his father took the fall for it, and was immediately sent to iron heights for the rest of his life.
no one in his school knew about his parents, not even his foster sister or brother, wally and iris. his foster dad was the only one close enough to barry to know what had happened.
ever since that day when his mother was murdered and his father was convicted, he was never the same. he felt heartless, numb, and just so nonchalant about his life. he didn't want to die, he just didn't care if he lived or not.
his bus arrived, and he boarded, taking one of the window seats in the back.
where he was headed, wasn't such a great place. he decided against going home, skipping his initial stop.
he then entered the place in which needed saving. the bus was about the only thing you'd find on the street, aside from a few other cars that were run down. this place just always looked so grey. there were so many cracks in the road, in need of a repair. there were significant cracks in certain stores, that have been there for months. everything was so run down, half of the lampposts didn't work.
the only hint of people around was the occasional dealing in back alleys, which barry never paid any attention too.
this place was once known as the glades. the glades was once a decent area. there was civilisation. it's been a couple of years since the levelling of the glades, and a 'mirukuru' attack that made everyone want to leave.
the glades were so empty. it needed saving. that was kinda like barry. he wanted to walk through a liveable place, restoring the liveliness it once had to offer. he wished he was fast enough to notice that the glades were deteriorating.
little did he know, he wasn't fast enough to see that he, too, was deteriorating.
