i was twiddling my pencil in between my fingers, feeling myself zoning off from the lesson again. seeing as the board was chock full of notes and my notebook was barren except for the date, i decided against catching up with all of it.
instead, i found myself doodling the figure in front of me. long hair cascading down, some strands dangerously close to my desk. i made sure to draw in the extra bouncy curls covering the chair.
i was shading in the different colour values when i heard my name being called. i snap back to reality to find the entire class staring at me.
"excuse me?" i asked, not realising the teacher had asked me a question.
"repeat what i just said,"
"uh," is all i can really manage to say.
"right, this here, is an example of what i'm talking about, you guys are zoning off into your own heads and not giving a care about the lesson at hand! normally sure, i would let this go but this needs to end, starting with you, barry, detention after school at 3." the teacher exasperated.
third person lol
barry was dumbfounded. he got punished for doing something as minuscule as dozing off. he was starting to think the teachers of this school were particularly bias towards him.
caitlin, the figure he'd absentmindedly been doodling for the duration of class, snickered almost inaudibly, only for two people to hear. barry, himself, and unfortunately for caitlin, the teacher that just so happened to walk over to give barry his detention slip.
"if you think it's so hilarious, feel free to laugh it up in detention with him." the teacher snarled, writing caitlin up as well.
the whole class was shocked at this, barry receiving a detention was understandable, if not predictable, but caitlin was practically a star student. it was a given she wasn't a teachers pet given everyone's prior opinion of her being an "ice queen", but she was definitely at the top of her class.
both caitlin and barry groaned, having been forced attending something they both didn't want to do, especially together.
