Sokka sat at the long table in the main dining room, staring into space. It had been three days since they sent the letter, so Aang should be there soon. Even without Appa, Aang could move pretty fast on his glider.
Of course, that would tire him out, so it might take four or five days... and Sokka didn't know if he could stand it.
Twila was the most confusing, irritating person he'd ever met! She was so quiet and 'refined' sometimes, but she didn't seem to like him. She kept calling him 'simple' and treating him like he was stupid! And Sokka'd had about enough of it- Spirit-whatever or not, he was going to teach her a lesson if it was the last thing he did!
He stood up and started pacing, muttering to himself.
But what could he do? Maybe he'd challenge her to a poem duel! He was a Haiku master, after all... but no, no, she'd laugh at him.
He needed something that would prove he was smart, and strong, and manly, and-
“Sokka? Are you okay?”
Sokka turned to his wife and threw his arms in the air.
“No! I'm not okay! Twila is impossible, she won't accept that I have a brain! And I can't think of a way to beat her, I'm a horrible prince and I can't-”
Suki laughed, pressing her lips to his to stop his tirade. She kissed him for a minute, but when she pulled back he was still glaring.
He opend his mouth to say more, and she kissed him again, harder. Finally she released him, and he seemed much calmer.
“Better?”
“Yeah. Thanks, Suki.” She laughed and shook her head.
“Now why don't you start at the beginning, and we'll try and think of a better solution to this, okay?”
Sokka nodded, but as he met his wife's eyes, there was something else in his gaze, and she smiled, and took his hand, and led him from the room.

Zuko landed the balloon in the Water Palace's front courtyard, and he and Aang gathered their things and stepped onto the freshly packed snow. It was late, almost night, and they headed for the door eagerly. As they reached it, it opened, and Kanna and Hakoda stepped out. The worry in their eyes sent an internal alarm screeching at Zuko.
Behind them was a girl dressed all in white, and Zuko frowned. There was something off about her. He could feel it.
But he didn't get to take a closer look, because a girl came to take him to his room, and Hakoda and Kanna, after a nod in Zuko's direction, took Aang inside with them.
They looked worried, very worried. And that girl... this couldn't be good.
Zuko closed the door to his room and tossed his pack on the floor, then flopped onto the bed. He hated having to wait like this, but he knew his friends would fill him in eventually.
He wondered where Katara was...

Sokka woke to pounding on the door. Fekar burst into the room a moment later, and Sokka rolled on top of Suki, sheilding her. Fekar blushed scarlet and whirled around, facing the door.
“Sorry, Prince Sokka. But your father told me to fetch you both quickly- the Avatar and the Fire Lord are here.”
With that Fekar darted out of the room, slamming the door behind him, but Sokka couldn't move. Couldn't process what Fekar had said, except for three words: Fire Lord. And Here.
Blind rage choked Sokka, and he leaped from the bed, throwing on his clothes. Beside him, Suki did the same. They ran from the room, and Suki ran right, towards the throne room.
But Sokka ran left, towards the guest rooms.
He was going to kill Zuko!
