Gene's POV

I was tired of (Y/n) ignoring me all the time. Okay, maybe she didn't ignore me that much, but when she acknowledged me, it wasn't in a good way.

And... I seriously am falling in love with her.

But... she has a boyfriend.

So in other words, (Y/n)'s a no-go. I suppose I could blackmail Zane, or photoshop a picture of him with another girl, but in this case, the situation is different.

(Y/n) has powers.

Zane has powers.

Us Shadow Knights have powers.

Each have different weaknesses and strengths, so what I'm considering could turn out either one way or the other. And - I'm not willing to take that chance.

So, I'll need a magical way of getting (Y/n). Something much stronger than blackmailing.

The only solution I can think of is witchcraft. But... where can I find a witch willing to help me?

And there's another predicament, who will I trust? I'm not gonna tell just anyone that I have a thing for (Y/n), they'll have to be... loyal... to me.

What? I don't have many friends apart from the two other Shadow Knights, so I don't really know what a 'trustworthy friend' is.

I mean, let's be honest here, even Sasha and Zenix would blab to others. There was just less of a risk, since they were being in the 'rebel' group as well. I could just disband it... but then they'd spill the beans.

Dang it, I'm in a sticky situation, aren't I? Crud.

So, being stupidly desperate, I set off to go look for a witch.

Any witch, the first magical girl I came across. I needed their help, or I needed to get close to them at least. I would get that potion one way or another.

*

I was standing in front of the fiery-haired witch named Lucinda, eyeing down her staff.

"So, how good are you at magic?"

"Um, good?" Lucinda said snootily. I could tell that she didn't want to be around me. To be honest, I couldn't blame her.

"Okay. Well, I was hoping you'd do me a favor-"

"Ha, you?" Lucinda looked me up and down. "You've gotta be kidding me."

I shook my head. "I'm not. I... have a thing for this... girl."

Lucinda raised an eyebrow, but she held back her excitement. I could tell.

"I didn't know someone like you would actually be capable of crushing on someone."

Ignoring her mean comment, I continued. "Correction - it's definitely love."

This time, Lucinda couldn't stop her grin. "Ooh, on who?"

"It depends. I don't know if I can trust you."

Lucinda sighed. "Alright. What do you want?"

"A love potion," I answered. Lucinda's eyes went wide.

"A-are you sure? I mean... I do like a bit of romance every now and then, but-"

"Will it cost anything? I can help you if you like," I offered. She gaped at me to see if I was serious, and oh, I was. Deathly serious.

Lucinda stabbed the end of her staff into the ground. She reached into her uniform pocket and pulled out a mini notebook. She opened it up and squinted down at it. I leaned over her shoulder.
