*Sometime around a year and a half after the last chapter*
I looked down at the phone in my hand.
"Jana? Hey. You still there? Jana?"
I shook my head and pulled the phone back up to my ear, "Uhm yeah I'm still here.. Sorry. Uhm, what was it that you wanted?"
"Are you alright? Haven't heard from you in awhile. I've missed the sound of your voice."
I giggled a little, blushed, and even though I knew he couldn't see me, I smiled. I knew that I hadn't spoken to, or seen, my best friend in weeks. I sighed a little, "I know. I've missed you too. I'm okay though, I've just been busy with that new show at the theatre I'm going to be in. The rehearsal hours have been ridiculous."
"I know. I saw the poster for it. You looked fabulous by the way." I could just hear the smile on his face.
"Oh why thank you. Hey, you know I was just thinking about calling you and asking if you wanted to go out for drinks or something. So what do you say?"
"I say, that sounds like a splendid idea. When would you like to do that?"
"How does right now sound," I asked, reaching toward the counter for my keys, just in case he said yes.
"Right now? Let me check my calendar. Hmm... Yes, I seem to be free. The usual place, right?" I could hear him chuckling to himself through the speaker.
"Of course. Where else?" I laughed and walked over to the hook where my coat was hanging. I stuck my keys in my pocket and held the phone to my ear with my shoulder, shrugging the coat on.
"Alright, alright, stupid question. I'll see you in a few minutes at the normal spot."
I laughed again and grabbed my phone again, reassured Matt that I would be there, then hung up.
It took all of five minutes to get to our usual bar, but of course Matt was there before me. He always managed to do that. I smiled and waved a little to where he sat at the bar.
I quickly jumped up into the bar stool beside him and turned to face him, grinning, "Hi there."
"Hello Miss Cole. How've you been?"
"Well, Mister Smith, if you must know, I've been just peachy."
"That's wonderful. Would you like something to drink," He asked, already knowing how I'd answer, seeing as how this is what we did every time we came here.
I nodded and smiled more, "Don't you know it."
I watched as Matt ordered 'The Usual' from the bartender who always happened to be there when we were. I think Matt calls him and tells him to be there. His name is Jacob and he's become almost like a friend to us.
"Here you go my dear," Matt said, handing a glass to me.
"Why thank you sir," I answered, taking a sip.
Like usual, a Captain and Coke for me, and either brandy or Lotte for Matt. He could never decide between the two and almost always had at least one glass of each before we left.
We both downed our drinks quickly, chatting about the things that had happened in the time we hadn't talked. Then we decided it was time to do shots. Which probably wasn't the best idea, but then again, with the two of us together hardly any of our ideas were that great. Matt told Jacob to cut us off at four shots each. We reached that limit real quick.
So of course, then it was time to go. Matt called a cab, seeing as neither of us wanted to risk driving, just in case.
I sat close to Matt and looked up at him, smiling like the idiot I am.
