BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

I woke up and turned off my alarm. I checked my phone to see if I got any jobs to do:

[3 new messages]

I checked the first one:

"Are you the Match Maker?"

"My friend Sara said you can help people find their true love, is that true?"

I replied:

"Yes I am and yes I can, how can help?"

I then checked my other message:

"Hey we need more chips bro and since you are out at the store it's only fair if you buy them, I want doritos."

I replied:
"Um, you got the wrong number this is not your 'bro.'"

I checked the last message it was from my sister:

"Hey, Veronica mom wants to know if you are going to visit in two weeks for her birthday we are gonna have a big party and she said you can bring your boyfriend."

I replied:

"I'll be there and you already know I'll be there alone because I don't have a boyfriend."

Just as I put my phone down I got another message, it was from the dorito person:

"If this isn't my brother then who is it?"

"This is The Matchmaker who are you?"

I put my phone down and went to shower and get ready for the day.

When I got out of the shower I checked my phone to see if the first person I answered replied only to see that the dorito person replied,

"The matchmaker? You're kidding right? Lol good joke but really who are you I am intrigued."

"What's so funny about my job name? You have no right laughing at me you are the one who asked and you didn't even answer my question."

Seconds after sending my reply he answered,

"Sorry, sorry where are my manners Ol' great one my name is Jay, Jay carter. And if you really are such a great matchmaker why don't you help me I've been looking for someone to share my doritos with."

"Are doritos all you think about? Anyways I can help you but first we need to see if you actually live close enough to get help, do you recognize Whitman park?"

"Yeah I do, I actually live about an hour away from there, you better be able to find me some one because I am going to waste gas on this trip."

"Oh trust me you'll be shocked when I find the love of your life."

"We'll see."

My phone dinged I got another message it was from my first customer of the day.

"Oh thank god you are the matchmaker I thought I was gonna embarrass myself, is it fine to meet somewhere public? I don't like going to peoples houses."

"Sure can we meet at Whitman park in about 17 mins?"

"Sounds great."

I got ready. I looked at myself in the mirror my light brown hair needed a trim sometime soon and I had small bags under my green eyes, it's been hard to sleep lately I stay up most days wondering if my life will always be so boring. Business seemed really slow lately. I went to my car and turned on the radio, a love song was playing. Ugh I hated love songs dont get me wrong I love, love but I just hate love songs I can't relate at all to them. I may be great at getting people into relationships but when it comes to helping myself I just can't find anyone.

I made it to the park 5 minutes early so I decided to sit at a bench and go on social media. After a while a blonde slightly plump young lady approached me and said,

"Hi um, are you the uh, matchmaker?"

"That's me! So what's your type?" I asked.

"My type?" She asked with a confused expression on her face.

"Yeah like do you like girls, boys, tall people, short people, rich, poor, old, young, romantic, wild, you get the gist," I explained.

"Well I don't really mind, I mean I just want someone who will love me for me and isn't a jerk," She said.

"Okay, I am glad you don't have a specific type it opens many opportunities and makes my job a lot easier," I said grabbing her arm.

"Where are we going?" She asked.

"To look for someone obviously, what I usually do with my clients is go to a well known social spot and sit and look pretty until someone joins us." I shrugged.

"Is it really that easy? If it is I can do that all on my own and not waste money," she said a bit disappointed.

"You can try, but I doubt anyone will notice you, many of my clients said the same thing and I let them test it out, me at one table and them at another no one came to them. We can try it if you want," I said.

"No it's fine I'll sit with you." She said quickly

"Oh honey we are not going to be sitting we are going to be dancing, but not today we'll have to make another appointment because I have another client waiting for me, if that's fine with you," I said.

"Uh, no it's fine I am free on Friday we can meet then," she said.

"Alright Friday it is, we'll work out the time through messaging okay, also I'm going to need your name, mine's Veronica."

"Oh, my name is Ashely, uh Ashely sanders," she said sticking her hand out.

I shook it "Well, I'll see you Friday Ashely." I left to go sit down once more on the bench.
