Chapter 12- Goldspell and Blood Traits
"You can't keep pretending you have confidence based on the feeling you get because Goldspell is taking over your nuuita. You have to be in control and only you can be confident enough, truly, with and without it, in order to unlock its full potential and your own!" Selios scolded Opren a week into training with the Goldspell. "We discovered it feeds off of your emotions together, did we not?" Opren nodded. "Then act like you know what you are doing instead of acting like you have a sense of security when fighting me, knowing I can defeat you at this stage!"
"I am trying! It is not even possible for me to beat you with anything other than the Goldspell and the Runic magical healing combined, so I have to use that drive and overconfidence absorbed from the Goldspell essence to push myself," Opren replied, breathing heavily from the last twenty minutes of continuous practice.
"Trying is useless if you cannot do something properly at any time. You must do, but you aren't doing, you are 'trying'. Stop trying, start doing, or lose," Selios replied harshly. "And anger should only feed your energy and will you to win, not make you act foolishly. If it makes you act as such, discard it." He dashed forward with speed exceeding all but Emerald's fastest charges, striking Opren with his palm and simultaneously moving his sword to strike Opren's throat. Opren shouted the spell word and changed into his shining form as the orb became the golden sword. He blocked Selios' strike just in time. "There! You did without thinking about trying. Do you see how desperation and need brings about your sword? Well, use it with any real confidence that you can muster, instead of competitive false cockiness such as you gain when fighting my son. He is unable to defeat me so what makes you think you have a chance with false bluffed emotions such as those?"
"I don't, but I also see no point in pretending I can beat you without making myself force a little proud and confident energy by acting that way during a fight," Opren replied, looking a little down as he changed back into his normal form, the one technique he had learned in the week since beginning training with the Goldspell orb.
"You must find your willpower to continue, even in the darkest or most fearsome moments, regardless of what your reality says, your personal reality overcomes if you find true heart and true confidence," Selios replied, calmly this time, but sternly. "Keep that in mind- and feeling- during my next few strikes."
Selios again moved in quickly, attempting strikes at Opren's sides. Opren managed to block the first regularly, but was cut by the second and third, dodging a fourth just in time as he used his Runic magic to heal his wounds. A fifth strike came and Opren glowed, but he didn't change. He lifted his sword and parried a blow enough so it didn't hit his body, but it did cause him to drop his sword. It slid to a place in the ring where it was impossible to reach before Selios could get to him. He turned back to Selios and saw another strike coming, but this time to his leg. He knew the power generated could remove his leg if he didn't fully dodge, thus had to use the Goldspell's sword and increased speed to stop it in time. He flashed with glowing light again- though not saying the spell word- but didn't change.
As Selios reached striking range, Opren yelled the spell word, unintentionally as usual, changing fully into his Goldspell form and blocking swiftly enough with the sword. He changed back into his normal form, staggering as he did so.
"You may stop for the time being to regain your stamina. I know that the Goldspell uses much more energy than any other spell you have learned so far and you look tired. You did well for a week into practice. I don't know if you took notice, but you happened to glow twice when apparently attempting to change without needing the spell word like I want you to eventually be able to do at will. And the bottom line is you survived," Selios chuckled shortly, putting his hand on Opren's left shoulder. "I know training with advanced magic is tough, even tougher now because of how we must push you to be able to unlock your abilities when using the Goldspell, but you are an adaptable young man with a knack for magical things so you should be able to progress quickly through added pressure similar to Rufius. Maybe more when you actually have the will and increased stamina to keep going, but don't tell him I predict that." Selios grinned. "On top of this, you possess the extraordinary ability to use your energy efficiently, which I have rarely seen in anyone but demons and I have only heard of it being possible in wizards, angels and demons... unless it is a family blood trait."
