Chapter 14- The Oracle? Friends Unexpected?

"Alright, so Selios said we just have to go through this forest and up the next small mountain to find this oracle friend of his, right?" Opren asked the following week, pausing as they reached the forest a day's walk from Avarrinnia. Rufius and Sapphire nodded.

They continued, and after a day and a half of traveling, the group came to the mountain they were trying to reach. While small for a mountain, it was still a large thing to climb and only Opren didn't regret the choice to do so the "quick way" once they reached the top. He had used the Goldspell form with the two katanas and his advanced Windcasting to send himself flying up the side very swiftly in large increments, catching resting points with the swords when needed. Being magically enhanced blades, the golden swords didn't have any resistant from the rock as they stabbed into it, a great deal easier than the effort the others had to put forth when stabbing their own weapons into the stone wall to provide grips where the natural structure did not.

Finally reaching the top nearly an hour later, the friends rested for a few moments and drank some water they had wisely taken from the river near the edge of the forest. They looked to the west and saw a small house which they assumed must be the oracle's, seeing how nothing else was around but sticks and stones. Opren- being still much more energized than the others- decided to walk over and knock to see if she was at home.

"Is that a good idea considering we don't even know who actually lives here? Nor do we know this woman who is apparently a powerful psychic," Sapphire brought to their attention.

It's fine. It is the oracle's house, Barbosa's familiar rough voice was heard inside of everyone's heads. The friends turned to see him jump down from a ledge attached to a small hill. I told you I would catch up after taking care of some business, Opren. Turns out, I arrived several minutes before you, likely because of the climb. It is the oracle's house, I know that much because I have seen her, but I haven't spoken to her yet. The funny thing is, even for you humans or elves sometimes, she looks too young to be a powerful psychic oracle to me.

"Maybe it's just your perspective, Barbosa," Opren said.

The door to the house opened and out stepped a slender young woman with large brown eyes and long curly brown hair. She was very cute and somewhat short, maybe five feet four inches. She looked to be around twenty-eight years of age. Either this was the oracle's daughter, sister or friend; or Barbosa was very right about her seeming too young.

"Maybe not." Opren and Rufius said in unison.

"Hey, cute lady, are you this friend of Selios' we're searching for?" Ruubi sweetly said, apparently interested in flirting with this woman. Sapphire rolled her eyes and Opren's jaw dropped a bit, not quite like when he first met the girls, but halfway or so. Emerald hit him lightly and he closed his mouth fully and looked at her.

"She flirts with women too?" he whispered to her, shocked. Sapphire and Emerald nodded.

"When it suits her fancy," Rufius added quietly.

"I can hear you all. Emerald isn't the only one, and Rufius you should know this, yet you actually spoke instead of gesturing or nodding. We elves all hear better than humans," Ruubi said turning her head to the back a bit. "Is there a problem with how I do things and make people realize I'm friendly?"

"Friendly? Ha! Too friendly," Sapphire said.

"I am the oracle; but, despite my psychic abilities to see the future and prophecies, and those to control minds and physical matter, I cannot read a thought clearly without some foresight or current explanations, thus I must ask... what the hell are you yapping about?" the young oracle cut into the exchange. "And my name is Kimmie, in case any of you were actually curious about the lady you climbed a mountain and traveled a forest to reach in order to find answers to specific and broad questions alike."
