The whole situation rocked me inside out. My chest hurt from the impact. I couldn't breathe well, I tried gasping for air. The figure behind the smoke began shooting his gun over to me. I quickly roll over to evade the piercing bullets finding shelter behind the other side of the couch.
The table where the family picture book is now scattering swathe of pictures in every direction. I grab the nearby lamp post, shuddering behind the couch, listening for any sign of movement. No sound, it's quiet. I don't trust quiet. Quiet is as deadly as a viper, waiting to unleash its venom when the perfect opportunity strikes.
I peek under the couch only to see Chase lying on his back, unconscious. The vision didn't leave me with a great view. All I'm looking for is a pair of standing shoes, but there's none.
NONSENCE!
How could a person just disappear from plain sight? Fretfully, my eyes scan every inch in that tight limited peripheral vision. My eyes work franticly.
None.
My hands rested over the soft skin of the couch. I lift my head up. Cautiously, I didn't offer a great instrument for self-defense, a lamp post the size of a baton.
I crouch and snaking forward for a better view of sneaking of the assailant.
Curse them! Reapers. How could they find me so fast.
Inch by inch I snake forward before reaching over the far end of the couch. I took hand of the couch leg and hoist myself into a perfect sneaking position. Without a moment of hesitation, I roll onward, advancing myself closer into the kitchen door inches away.
Just as I'm about to clear free of the rubble, I'm greeted by my assailant, welcoming me with his shoes landing a stomper kick directly at my abdomen. The powerful blow wasn't a warm welcome into my body but more of a hostile shock cursing my entire body. My chest churned, searching for air. My throat couldn't inhale any air. I'm suffocating from the pain that left me render less in pain.
"You think you can escape me?" The assailant asks, his voice as cold as I remember the night before. "I should congratulate you, for managing to escape me as well as causing an insufferable amount of pain to me last night. I should expect no less from an agent from the organization. They train the best, and well, the best is standing over your scourge body. I am the best to ever come out from the organization. A perfect combination of man and killing machine. Pity. I would have love to prolong our cat and mouse chase into a more exciting adventure."
My body wouldn't move. Every part is thickening by the excruciating pain running through every muscle and vein in my body. I couldn't make much sense of what he's blabbering. If only I could jab something into his body and that would create and opportunity for me to slip past him and take him by surprise.
There!
Through my surprise, hidden by all the debris, I see it. A five-inch length screwdriver. If only I could reach it. I tried jerking my hands concealed from his line of sight.
No good!
My fingers couldn't ever reach the tip of the screwdriver. I'm not giving up. I keep my hands prying for the screwdriver. My fingers scratching at the floor to touch the apparatus. Just a little more. It's within my reach.
"...... failing in your mission and trying to run away" is all I could muster from his blabbering.
I didn't care for his chatter. He keeps talking and mumble stretching from my mission into taking a target with me into hiding.
The screwdriver is just inches away. The jerking didn't stop, I try and I try and finally my fingers touch the cold steel skin. I lurch the screwdriver towards me and the steel driver is in my possession. Now all that's left is for me to wait for the perfect opportunity to seize him.
"Hey!" he suddenly barks. "Are you listening?"
His feet dig deeper into my spine. The pain is unbearable. I winced and shrieked at the pain.
"It's rude to ignore a person talking to you" he said.
The landing of his shoes are massive. I couldn't break free. I need a clear shot of alighting this screwdriver into him.
"Maybe you need just a little more punishment" his voice cold.
My chest felt free when he frees his boot from me. Immediately I try catching a huge amount of air gulping each puff relishing my breath. The enjoyment is short live when my chest contract another striking blow forcing me to jump back into the wall. The wall crushes my back with its hard concrete brick.
The reaper strode pleasantly towards me. I catch a glimpse of his boot coming for me through my blurry eyes.
"ARGHHHHH" I roared as my hand fling by his heel stabbing the five-inch screwdriver deep into his skin.
"ARGHHHHH!!" he yells. "YOU PIECE OF...." I grab his weaken feet before he could mutter anymore forbidden words and yank him down hard face first.
The sound of the crushing blow sends shiver down my spine. I rack down my hands on his temple bringing a world of beating. I didn't stop. This exact feeling, I had when I was enjoying thrashing his body the night before.
"ANNIEEEEEE!!" a voice shrieks from the floor above.
My eyes gauge open realizing it was mom's voice, shouting in terror.
