The kitchen enthralls the sighting I'm witnessing with my own eyes. A man strap into a chair with a thick heavy ropes being hammered by two rounded men. The tied up man is bleeding from his nose and lips. Bruises and scratches protruding from his legs all the way up to his face. It's a torturous sight.
"Pardon me" Paulo said. "Just a local thieves tryin to steal from me."
"What was he trying to steal?" Chase asks from behind.
"Good question... Mr?"
"Vanes. Ian Vanes. " Chase introduce himself. Waving him arm in the air for a handshake. "Sorry I didn't introduce myself at the front"
Paulo greet Chase's handshake. "It's quite alright Mr. Vanes. And to answer your question earlier. The item to which this perpetrator tried to stole from me is indeed a necklace"
"Necklace?" I asks him.
He staggers to the right, removing utensils all around revealing a lock safe hidden beneath a bottom compartment. After a quick fondling, the click sound penetrates the air, and he open the lock safe, holding in his hand a magnificent piece of jewelry. A diamond lace strip with an arc tiny pearl around its strand golden string.
"My family heirloom." He said to us. "Pass down from generation to generations"
The necklace is marvelous with a stark flare.
"Must be worth a fortune" Chase said.
"It is." Paulo agrees. "This thief has the audacity to sneaks in here late last night to steal it. Lucky for me, Maroni" He points to the left oversize man. "Heard a noise and came to check out the problem and managed to catch this thief red handed"
Maroni continues beating the skull of the thief. He yelps in pain receiving the harsh blow from the hulk.
"Ple...aseeee" he's begging Maroni. "St..op"
His pleading works to no end. Maroni and his partner resume trashing the poor soul. I feel bad for him. The callous act of torture is not something I enjoy even when I was an agent. I never conjure such heinous act to my target. I always take on the measurable way of dealing things with an acute approach. I would discharge my gun firing the bullet to lodge straight into my target's head. Simple and efficient. Nobody has to suffer, a quick way of death. However, torture, it's a barbaric tool. I loathe it.
"STO..P!!" the thief screams, but the rounded men paid no attention. His breathe give passage for blood to spatter all around. His engorged eyes stare to me for quick plead of aid.
"Enough of the minor hassle." Paulo said, fiddling his fingers around the button on his suit. "Let's move along shall we"
As we march towards the clandestine over behind the kitchen, the thief disputes a more deafening plead, screaming for his untethered life. "WAIT!! Don't do this to me! I have a family!"
Chase pause, blocking me from walking; obstructing my path. "We can't leave him" he whispers.
"We have to!" I argue. "It has nothing to do with us. It was his fault for stealing from Paulo. Now he has to suffer for the consequences."
"But I bet he did it for his family!" Chase continues, treading his head back to me. "I can't watch a man suffer through agonizing torture just because he made a simple mistake to help out his family."
