The car is silent. For a while, nobody spoke. My eyes turn white. I hope the Major is safe along with all the other fugitives. This is unfair. As soon as I feel safe, the organization came back haunting me. Now, we're on the run for the third time. I'm not sure where we are headed now. The two soldiers didn't utter any words as we left the base. The jeep lash across the route pretty fast, hoping to stay clear of the reaper at the back.

On the road again. Nobody has anything to talk about. It's all about survival, leaving so that we could find the strength to survive the other day. It's funny when you think about it, humans are so caught up in proving one's power that they sometimes forget that true power could only come if we band together and survive instead of destroying one another.

The driver turns on the radio and the morning news buzz the car. Nothing fascinating in the news as all the story they cover are about political and sporting events. Until one news caught me in the flash. I ask the soldier to pump up the volume so I could listen clearer.

"According to the M.E, the cause of death of the victim is caused by a single shot into the head. The police are confirming that this death are probably the act of a robbery gone wrong. No other information can be gather so far on the missing person Carolyn Matthews. The police are still conducting a search for her and urging the citizens to call for any tip line if they have any information regarding Carolyn Matthews"

"You can turn it off now.." I muster.

At least I know that mom is still securely safe with Joe. Leaving her with him is the right choice. Nobody would ever suspect to find her there. I hope she's okay. I promise her that I would make things right and return to her as soon as this whole mess is dealt with.

Chase is awfully quiet, sitting idly beside me. I shot a glance at him and I see his depression look, staring out. I wish I could make things better for him but I can't. He's in way too deep to be safely put aside. I never notice him before his valor deed. Now I couldn't take my eyes off him. The gentle pulsing of his blonde hair caressing his skin, and his azure celestial eyes dejecting sea color. What is wrong with me. Shake those though off. Now is not the time to be thinking of such matters.

Chase notices I'm staring and I quickly look away. I steal a quick look and he's eyes darts back into the outside world. I return my eyes into the view in my mirror. A lovely countryside with rail tracks stretching far into the north. We're now heading west away from the base. The cerulean top silver cloud hovers on top of us as we race across the widespread road.

A signpost stood outside bearing scribble of word I couldn't read. As the car drives closer, I could gather the white text written on it.

QUEENS – 10 MILES

We're back inching closer to heart of New York. The sky turning dull as the clouds huddle together. Thunder creaks in the sky and rain starts pouring down. I watch the skylight, admiring the scenery even though our life is at the critical moment of jeopardy.

From a mile away, I could identify the roaring city towering before us. The overcast building clouded in a sea of eroded walls. The cars pull into a stop beneath a majestic shroud of forest, rummaging our eyes to the substantial bushes and foliage.

"Let's move" the driver kills the engine. The shards of rain pouring down, socking the pavement. We follow the two soldiers exiting the car and enter forest. The sign at the entrance states Forest Park.

"What are we doing here?" Chase asks.

"Keep walking" one of the soldier reply.

The entire park is a soaring swathe of trees and fields. Birds chirping and insects creaking in the distant.

Chase caught up to me. "Any idea where we goin?" he whisper.

"Nope"

"Wish they tell us something"

"Me too"

The trek went on for minutes until the soldier stop abruptly in front of us causing me to bump into their backs.

They oversee the surrounding, eyes darting in every direction, making sure we're alone. One of them produce a birds piping sound and another voice answers it.

"Let's go.." they said simultaneously.

We reach at the outskirt of an undergrowth plants and trees. This backdrop is a less admirable scenery than the one we cut through just moments ago.

The bushes rattle and I took us by surprise. "Don't be alarm!" A voice barks.

"Identification" one of the soldier grunts.

"Into the sea into the sun, what have we might succumb, people collapse people run"

The soldiers recoil their weapons, awaiting the people emerging from the bushes. "You're clear!"

Then the two guarding soldiers plummet to their knees, before dropping hard into the drench foil. What the?!

I ran to their side. "Hey!... You ok?!"

"Rru...run..." he said.

Within that moment, I erect my eyes to Chase, having the same surprise effect as me. He grabs me by the arms and we took our feet scrambling to the unknown greenery.
