In the wild mess, I looked at him. He looked back at me from the distance. His eyes, those chestnut brown eyes, are still beautiful as ever. Except it no longer held happiness and comfort, but fear and hopelessness.
Bang.
There he was, my best friend, my family, my soul mate, my true love, on the ground. Within only a few seconds, he was soaked with blood.
Bang.
Pain pulled me on the ground. I gave him one last glance. He looked back at me, and smiled. I returned the smile, then went into a deep sleep for eternity.
At least I thought so.
I opened my eyes, thinking I was in either hell or heaven. Well, I looked around. I was in a very clean and white room, on a very soft bed with white blankets. Near my bed, a girl is asleep on a chair. It was kind of weird, but the smell gave it away.
Why am I in a hospital?
Noticing my movement, the girl woke up and jumped out of her seat.
"NURSE!!!! DOCTOR!!!! SOMEONE!!! SHE'S AWAKE!!!" She screamed, then looked at me. "THAYER!!! YOU'RE FINALLY AWAKE...."
Um, alright then. "Excuse me," I push myself away from the girl. "Why am I in a hospital, how do you know my name, and where is Thomas?"
The girl looked at me in shock. "Did you loose your freaking memory???"
I look at her. "No, I did not. I remember being shot. Who brought me here? Is Thomas safe?"
"Hold up, I don't know who this Thomas guy is but right now is not the time to worry about him. You were in a coma for a week and everyone is freaking out. And I'm you roommate/best friend/colleague, why would I not know your name?"
"Uh... what's my job?"
"I swear this is crazy. You're a software engineer..."
The hell is software engineer? I serve in the freaking military, not making soft things that are probably worthless! I was going to continue asking but the doctor came in. After doing weird things with a rectangular object with a screen that has movie lines on, the doctor said that I really lost my memory. The girl decided to just take me home to where I live. She shows me around the apartment. Some things here are very... weird and cool. There's a white box that could store food and (I'm assuming) consumable liquid. Also, there are multiple rectangular prisms that have things moving on it. The sizes vary from almost my height to my hand's size. I saw my roommate dial numbers on that little screen and put it next to her ear. So apparently.. sound comes out of the tiny prism??? Then she SPOKE TO IT. Maybe my roommate is just crazy?
"Hey, it's Tris here. Thayer woke up but she lost her memory. So... she's probably not gonna return to work soon. Okay. Got it. Bye!" So apparently her name is Tris.
"Hey, Tris... what year is this?"
Thayer sighs. "2017..."
WHAT!??? I'M FREAKING 400 YEARS OLD!!!!?????
"Uh... how old am I?"
"Alright. If you ever go outside to take a walk, know this:
1. On streets, there will be red, yellow, and green colored lights. ONLY walk when the light is green.
2. You're 25 and single, but not taking any boyfriends yet.
3. Don't beat everyone up.
4. Don't salute to everyone.
5. Don't ask about EVERYTHING you've never seen before. ""Uh... okay... I think I'm gonna get some fresh air..."
She is one weird roommate.
I walked around this so called "apartment complex", wandering and looking around. Not expecting to be really interested in anything.
But I was wrong, again.
I saw him. Thomas, with the chestnut brown eyes.
TBC.
