Chapter 2

"Th-Thomas?"

I look over. A girl approaches me. Usually, I would just glance over and smile. But she's different. The way she walks, stands, talks... they seem so familiar. Her beauty, her hair, and her eyes... Immediately, I was attracted.

"Is it really you?" The girl's eyes become watery.

"Um... My name is Thomas, and you are?"

"Thomas!!! It's actually you!!! It's me, Thayer!!!"

Thayer... Never heard that name before.

"I'm sorry, I don't seem to recall... a Thayer." I look at her. She reminds me of an angel from heaven...

"You... don't... remember... me...?" She starts crying.

"Hey, don't cry. I did loose my memory a few years ago. Maybe we've met before!"

The girl immediately looked up. "Remember when we first met we were training together? Then later our friends started to try to get us together? And then you asked me out?"

Woah there. "Training? I'm a computer engineer. "

"What?" Thayer looked at me in shock. "So you really don't know..." She runs off.

Confused, I continue my afternoon walk. Ever since I lost my memory, things have been weird, I guess. I assumed everything was witchcraft. Turns out those big rectangles with screens on it are called televisions. The smaller ones are called phones. And this really popular kind... was it called? Banana? Peach? Oh yeah, apple. Being nearly 400 years old is hard to adjust, after all.

Later, I called my friend Daniel to meet at a nearby coffee shop. Since I arrived first, I tried to look for a table for us. It would have been better without jerks. I legitimately ACCIDENTALLY bump into someone. Being polite, I apologize.

"Hmm, you don't look like you're blind. Why don't you show that instead just walking around like a drunk idiot?" A girl glares at me and makes the nasty comment. I just ignore her and keep finding the seat.

Finally finding a table, I sit down and order my drink as I wait for Daniel. After a few minutes, Daniel takes a seat across from me.

"Hey man! How's it going?"

"Besides running into moody people, everything was cool. But something troubled me. Remember a few years ago when I lost my memory?" 

Daniel slowly nods, his face goes from his usual friendly expression to a worried one.

"Remember how I told you I remember my past life? Being a military commander in that war? Was it the Twenty year war?"

"Thirty, "Daniel corrected. "And Yeah, i remember."

"Well, I ran into someone today who seemed like she knew something about that. But I don't remember her in my past life."

"Where did you meet her?" Daniel asks.

"Actually, I ran into her in my neighborhood. She probably lives in the same neighborhood as me!" 

"Well first of all, don't go stalking everyone. If you really want to meet her again, maybe fate will bring you two together."

At work the next day, my team was called to the CEO's office.

"There is a new manager for your team. Meet Rose Xin. I know we don't usually place new employees on higher ranks like manager, but she is very experienced in the science and engineering field. " He gestures towards the person next to him. I instantly recognize her face. She probably recognized me, but didn't say anything at the moment.

"Alright, uhhh.... Thomas! Show Rose around. Her office is room XXX." My CEO orders and dismisses us. After leaving the office, Rose looks at me. "Alright, just be quick about this whole 'showing me around thing'. And do it without being drunk."
