"I'm sorry... but she's not doing well."
Please tell me this isn't happening. I can't live without Rose. She's the only person who is there for me, who listens to me, basically my other soulmate. She can't just leave earth like this.
"Is she gonna wake up?" I ask one of the doctors.
"I don't know. The crash was pretty serious, and this needs to move into surgery. Plus, she had a cardiac failure, which caused her to stop driving, and then the crash came in. I'm sure right now she can still hear you, so have family and friends say some final words and we'll move into surgery."
I went in the room. Rose, with beautifully curled long black hair, very nice skin, very pretty eyelashes, lies motionless, possibly about to die. I texted Thomas, Daniel, and Tris to come say goodbye.
"Rose..." A tear rolls down my face. "I... can't lose you. I have a feeling you've been through so much, and you've been strong during the rough times. You can go through this too, right? But.... I don't care what you do, you just can't leave... What am I supposed to do!??? I would lose my best friend. Actually, you're more than a friend to me. You're basically family..." I started crying. "I.... I don't think I.... w-would've... b-been alive i-if you ne-ver helped me..."
Thomas, Tris, and Daniel runs in the room. "So last words, huh?" Daniel says. Thomas and Tris each give me a hug. "Well... Rose, you've definitely made a great impact on the team. You may be strict and unfriendly, but you are tolerant and hardworking. I just want to say... thank you."
"You've always took care of me and Thayer when we first came to visit," Tris starts. "Thank you for helping me with taking care of Thayer because of her memory. She's been getting a lot better and you've been a huge help. You're also such an amazing friend... I wish we could've known each other for a longer time..." Tris starts crying too.
Thomas steps forward. "So..." He looks at the Rose lying motionless. "You weren't really my favorite person to be around, but... I hate to admit it but you're SO SMART. Even though all of your criticism is annoying, they're one hundred percent correct. Thank you for improving me as an engineer. And... you have a great music talent. If you wake up, which we believe you will, you should really continue your talent." Thomas pauses. "I'm sorry for quarreling with you all the time. I'm just... not super pumped about unfriendly people. But thank you, for everything." Thomas looks at me. "Anything you want to say?"
I just cry. I really can't loose Rose. I smack my hand on my face. Can I please wake up from this nightmare?
Someone comes in and informs us that the surgery will begin soon. We all leave the room, saying goodbye to her. I still can't stop my tears. No one understands how much she means to me... It's almost like loosing Thomas.
Outside the ER room, Thomas took my hand in his and comforts me. "All we can do now is pray and believe."
