Zeke's p.o.v

Eloise. I couldn't get her out of my mind. She wasn't faint itch in the back corner she was the upright pounding of menacing headache. Only I wanted it to never end. It was like she put me under a spell, into a fever that only she could cure. I was falling for her. And in only a short amount of time.

I rolled over in bed, recalling the events of last week at the ice cream shop. We were laughing at one of Aaron's dumb jokes. Eloise had laughed so hard she snorted sending us all back into fits of laughter. She held her hand over her face in embarrassment looking over at me with a small smile. That smile. I almost reached over to brush the hair out of her eyes but stopped myself feeling a harsh barrier. I knew I couldn't touch her. Yet she was still so perfect.

How could someone so untouchable be so... untouchable.

It had been almost two weeks since I met her and now... she was all I could think about.

I rolled back looking at the roof remembering last weeks dinner now. It had been just as rowdy as always. I'd kept a sharp eye on Eloise noting her shallow breathing. Just as I was about to suggest we step outside for some air she stood up and excused herself. Nik and Aaron could tell I was frustrated, they knew I had something playing at my mind. Nik texted that night suggesting we all go the gym today and talk. He was big on that. He like to make sure Aaron and I said what we needed to even when we didn't necessarily want to talk about whatever it was.

The boys had come to the conclusion that I was in love. I wasn't yet but I was falling hard. It made me frustrated that Eloise wasn't normal and then more frustrated in myself for even thinking that. She was normal. She was happy. Why wasn't that enough.

Was that selfish of me? to want her to get over her fear? just so I could hold her.

Movement through the window catches my attention. It was Eloise. She seemed to be dancing slowly.

Watching her move in that white dress, feeling my throat tighten up. Just like the other night when she had come to close and suddenly all the air evaporates from my lungs. Watching her lips move she talks, when she smiles. The way her laughter makes every inch of you warm. Like it's all going to be okay if you can just get her to smile. Like how I can't stop thinking about her.

Eloise stopped suddenly, pulling out her earbuds and breathing heavily. Her chest rising and falling rapidly. She looked up abruptly catching me staring at her. Walking over to the her window she opens it and leans on the frame.

Getting out of bed I copy her actions, opening my own window and then leaning on the frame. There was a cool breeze in the night air that swept through Eloise's hair. I could almost just reach over and tuck it behind her ear. Untouchable. The word rang through my mind. She was untouchable. As if sensing my thoughts she reaches up and tucks the stray hair behind her ear.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She finally asked, a small smile gracing her lips.

"Because your beautiful." I said without thinking.

"Gross." She quickly said smiling wildly now.

"Why is that gross? Do you not believe me?" I asked dumbfounded.

"You could tell me a thousand times I'm beautiful and I'll believe it for a second but tell me I'm ugly once and I'll believe you forever." She spoke softly.

"What if I told you every second for the rest of my life? would you believe me then?" I asked.

"You could try." She said. A smile tinting her words. "What are you doing up so late?" She asked.

"Thinking" I say with a yawn.

"About what?" She squints as if trying to read my mind.

"You." I declare after a moment of hesitation.

"Should I be concerned?"She replied not showing any sign of concern.

"No." I laugh. "I mean about you being untouchable." As my words leave my mouth her face drops.

"Oh." She finally sighs busying herself with the peeling paint on the window frame.

"Are you happy?" I asked without thinking.

Eloise looked up in surprise. "Of course." She thought for a minute. "I do miss it though... being able to hold someone." She then admitted.

"Do you think you'll ever be able to do it again?" I quizzed.

"I was thinking about it the other day actually. I'm not sure... I hope so." She replied after a few seconds.

"I hope so too." I yawned again, this time making Eloise mimic my actions in yawning.

"Go to bed." She laughs.

"I'm fine." I argue.

"Your tired. You can barely keep your eyes open." Eloise scolds playfully. The wind had started to pick up and her brown hair was now untamed. Her words only a whisper once they reached me as they were carried away in the wind.

"Your not tired?" I argued back. It was late and most of the night she had spent dancing gently yet she didn't look tired at all. Her eyes still awake and her smile full of energy. It was as if time had not effect on her. That or I was really sleep deprived.

"No but if you keep yawning I might be." She laughed this time.

"Sorry. Okay I'm going to bed. Goodnight." I replied putting my hands up in surrender.

"Goodnight." Eloise said standing up and placing her ear buds back in place. A few seconds spent on her phone before she started swaying again, a whisper of her singing swept through the wind before I closed my window, silencing everything.

Getting up and walking back to my own bed I fell down with a soft thud. Breathing softly I let sleep quickly overtake me.
