It was in this dream she had, that she dreamt that Sasuke came to see her at the night, giving her a sweet birthday kiss as a present, and possibly intimacy that night as well. How he would promise her a lot of things and that he would now live with her in this house. Stay with her. Just the way she always wanted it to be. However, this was all just a pleasuring dream that could never defeat the harsh reality that Sakura was facing. Yet, it was her inner mind telling her that this is what she desired.

She didn't know he was there.

He caresses her face, before grasping a strand of her pink hair within his fingers before a face of utter sympathy splashes onto his face. "Sorry, Sakura. But my revenge on Itachi is stronger than my love for you." He closes his eyes, washed up with the memories of everything that these two went through, and how even when he was suffering tremendously, she'd fight away all of his fears, and she held his hand through all of those years, and yet, Sasuke would still have...

All of Sakura.

He takes his leave now.

🌸

The sun gives Sakura a warm birthday greeting as she shifts her eyelids to open, and sits up before rubbing her eyes. "That's so weird...I thought Sasuke had spent the night with me." She scratches her head in confusion, tossing the idea out of her head before running a hand through her hair. Today. Now she remembered what today was. Not only just her birthday, but also, the Sasuke mission she has longed to venture on. But of course. This was the biggest of her wildest dream that she has.

She wishes Sasuke would remember the day she stood in a red dress, staring at the sunset, red lips and rosy cheeks, wishing Sasuke would see her again, even if it's just in his wildest dreams.

Her friends would obviously be unbeknownst to her mission, and they would obviously want to throw a party for her and she would want Sasuke to be there as well. But what would be a believable lie to not go attend her own birthday party? Hey, I have a mission to retrieve Sasuke and to get him by my side, and if I can't accomplish that, I have to kill him.

Believable.

Not really.

She sighs, before getting up and out of her bed and approaching her closet, already having her blue backpack stuffed with the essentials she would need for the mission. It was then, the melody of Happy Birthday approached her window, and soon, the very dramatic singing of someone. She sighs, realizing that it is her best friend/brother figure singing like a lunatic. That silly Naruto, knowing what to do at occasions such like these. She forces a smile as she approaches the window, soon hearing an orchestra of singing.

"Happy birthday dear Sakurrrraaaaa~~!! Happy birthday to you!!!!"

Sai, Ino, Naruto, Hinata, Choji, Shikamaru, Temari, Gaara, Choji, and surprisingly enough, Kakashi, who was carrying a cake. How was she supposed to avoid this now? She really couldn't, could she? Quick, now, she grabs her backpack and jumps down her window. "U-Ummm, can we hold off the party until tonight?" She asks, soon getting the response of disappointed sighs and droopy eyes. "Sorry, I just...have to do something quick, then you guys can throw the party!" She smiles as everyone eases a smile as well, nodding before everyone says Happy Birthday to her before coupling off.

Kakashi watches them go before turning to face her. "You don't have to lie to me, Sakura. I already know of your mission, okay? I won't be far behind..." He says emotionless, not portraying his worry and frustration. "It's fine Kakashi! I'll be fine. I know I can do this, I can!" She starts to walk steps forward, before Kakashi grasps her wrist with his right arm. "Wait." He speaks lowly as she, a bit taken back, turns to face him, as they hold an intense eye contact. "Promise me something." He begins. "Anything." Sakura smiles. "Come back safely."

"Come back to me..."

Sakura smiles. "Alright, sensei...I promise!" And she runs off, her parents watching, seeing her birthday necklace swing back and forth as she runs ahead, Kakashi, getting the last glimpse.

🌸

"I have no business with you, Karin." Sasuke sighs as he shrugs off the redhead. "Whyyyy not Sasuke...don't you want to go alone somewhere?!" Karin whimpers as Sasuke sighs. "You're such a pain...I'd rather be alone with my girlfriend...today is her birthday." He murmurs, as Karin is taken aback. "G-Girlfriend?!" She gasps as a familiar laugh is heard behind her. "You know what they say, you snooze you lose, dog."

"Shut it, shark face!" And the two bicker and bicker from that point on, and Sasuke can't stand to be in the hideout anymore. "Good morning my dear boy, Sasuke, nice day, isn't it?" Orochimaru slithers as he smirks. Damn, it's Oropedo again. Sasuke sighs, annoyed at this creep's persona as well. "Look, I want some space now okay...just leave me alone." Sasuke walks out of the hideout, as he is ready to see Sakura again. But how...how should he approach her?

Hey Sakura, happy birthday, I've loved you, hnnn, but I'm too silent to show it...

Sakura. Happy birthday. Be mine...

Both of them sounded horrible and it seemed like both wouldn't seem to work. How would he manage?

But little did he--and Sakura know, that from the lurking dark shadows, would be an opponent neither of them thought they would face, exist even, or even...do the unspeakable.

Was this fate? Sasuke and Sakura to reunite, or perhaps, was this, doomed for the greater good, a tragic story about Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, only their enemy in time would know. And soon, he wouldn't be the only one.
