She stares at the desk infront of her as she is seated, containing all her thoughts instead of spilling them all out of her mouth "As you know, you are the only one enlisted for this mission, not even Naruto." Tsunade says as Shizune stands at her side, holding Tsunade's pet pig TonTon within her arms. "Wee, wee, oink." The pig squeaks as Sakura tries not to smile at his cuteness. "Yes, I know. When shall the mission commence?" Sakura asks, as she places her hands on her light Starburst pink skirt and straightens it at the ruffles.
"The mission shall start today."
"Today?!" Sakura almost gasps as Tsunade arches an eyebrow. "Is there something wrong?" She asks, as Sakura immediately shakes her head. "Oh no, Tsunade, everything is well! It's just...a part of me is so nervous...anxious....excited...and the other half is happy, confident and..." Sakura pauses as Tsunade speaks. "What about that point one percent?" She asks, as Sakura gulps, and sighs, soon getting flashbacks of many previous encounters with Sasuke. Whether romantic. Whether eye contact. Whether protecting one another. Whether arguing. Whether being by his side and adoring him. Whether him trying to hurt her.
She felt...
"Fear."
Tsunade nods, sighing of exhilaration before spinning her chair back to get a view through her massive window. "I knew you were best suited for the job, Sakura." Tsunade says, before lowering her head and closing her eyes, squeezing them shut. "But just know...if things get risky and turn for the worst...know that I will send in your reinforcement." Tsunade says before facing the girl once more. "A-And that would be...Kakashi." Sakura says, tapping away at the desk before letting her left hand hold her wrist in a grip to calm herself.
"Yes...so start getting ready today...tomorrow you leave...leave at the time you want to leave. There is no starting time." Sakura nods, as she knows the main task. "Now, what is the full description of your mission?" Tsunade asks, making sure that Sakura has remembered the requirements. The Pinkette inhales deeply before closing her eyes and letting the words jumble out.
"Find Sasuke. Talk to him, don't forget to raise your guard. Convince him to come back. Stop him from getting any closer to Itachi...stop the Akatsuki if you can along the way...if all else fails with Sasuke...kill him."
Tsunade nods, knowing how difficult it must've been for Sakura to say the last two words. "Good. Do what you need to do, and get a good night's rest. Report to me as soon as you can." Tsunade says, and with a quick nod, Sakura turns. "Sakura!" Shizune speaks up as Sakura looks at the assistant. "Yes, Shizune?" She responds. Shizune smiles. "I know you can do it...I'm rooting for you...get your boyfriend back here!" Shizune says, making Sakura blush, before quickly nodding. "I will, thanks for the support!" She swiftly takes her leave.
🌸
The stars twinkle into the night as Sakura stares out her window. "I can't believe it...my mission is coming true. It's everything I hoped for." She says as she then turns to her bed and stares at it. Tonight, would probably be the last night she would get a good sleep on her bed for the longest while. "Sakura...do you really have to go..." Her mother, Euphemia Haruno steps inside her room, her purple eyes shaking a bit as she looks at her daughter, whose birthday would be tomorrow. And this would be a birthday without her family and friends.
Except for Sasuke.
But that's if Sakura finds him quick enough.
"Yes mom, I do! This mission...I've been waiting a really long time for this mission to happen...and now that it has finally happened...I get to go and see the boy I love." Sakura assures her mother as Euphemia sighs. "Alright...since you insist." She eases a smile. "I know how much you love that Sasuke...but please be careful...if anything were to happen..." Euphemia raises her worry. "Euphie!!! It's okay!" A voice behind her says as he wraps his arms around her.
It was Sakura's father, Suzaku Haruno. "Euphie...it's fine! Just believe in our daughter, hell ya she'll bring that idiot boy back!" His emerald eyes shimmer before a smile appears on his face and Euphemia smiles. "Shanaroo! Fine I'll believe you..." The parents turn to their daughter as they embrace her. "Since you're leaving...your father and I got you a birthday present..." Euphemia says as they hand their daughter a small blue box with a pink ribbon surrounding it. Sakura smiles and accepts it, opening it carefully and finding a beautiful jeweled blue and pink necklace to love.
"Shanaroo, thanks mom and dad!" Sakura says, soon hugging her parents before they let her go to sleep. For she needed tomorrow's rest for the mission.
🌸
His steps were heard as he walked throughout the steps in the night. His sword came in handy in combat as he has just left the hideout, to get away from that creep of a snake, that shark face, the nature lover, and that annoying red haired girl that was ugly.
Correction.
Is.
The moon was a bright yellow as it was the main lead of a path towards his destination. He inhaled the fresh aroma that this village gave off. Lights were barely flickered, stores closed, one restaurant with white curtains were visible, and he didn't see the two pairs of familiar legs sitting side by side enjoying dinner here. He slowly walks again, forward, as he sees a bench, and for a while stares at it, as if recalling something important that seemed to have happened.
Of course it would, but he wasn't here to just stare at it.
He was here for something else...or perhaps, someone.
Trying to remember this village, he turns to his old house and looks at it. The same as it always has been. But her scent drowns the house completely. For she would visit, in hopes he would one day come back.
But he wasn't here for his old house. Stepping once more, he takes his steps towards another house, two stories high, as he automatically remembers the high window, and soon jumps on the roof, staring through it. It was finally midnight, and he could finally say the words he would always say to her every time she slept on her bed in this time of year.
He teleports inside and stares at the sleeping beauty and whispers these three words.
"Happy birthday, Sakura."
