Chapter four:

The next morning I woke with a jolt because of some nightmare I had but couldn’t remember. I looked around the room. Sunlight peeked through the ends of the curtain. Damon’s bed was made and I heard his shower running. I got up and pranced to my closet.

I swatted though my options multiple times before settling on: a forest green long sleeve, a white parka vest, with a pair of darker, then my shirt, green skinny jeans. I showered, after Damon, and changed. I straightened my hair and put on some eyeliner. Then I slipped on my Uggs boots.

The room was silent and Damon was no way to be seen. I smiled and headed down to the cafeteria.

Midnight was in front of me when I stepped into the door. “Good morning, I’m bored.”

“Good morning, where’s Sage? He’s practically your shadow,” I joked and she playfully punched my arm.

“No he is not and he had somewhere to be or something,” she shrugged. She shook her head with a smile, “come on, you must be hungry.”

“Aren’t you?” I asked.

“No, I had a feeding so no,” she replied.

“A feeding?” I questioned.

“Blood,” she replied, “the school has donors well we call them feeders. I had one and it satisfies you for a while, I’ll eat at lunch.”

“Duh, blonde moment,” I laughed.

“Hey,” Midnight snapped, “offensive!”

“Sorry,” I covered my mouth with my hands. I tried not to giggle behind them.

“Well, you gonna get in line?” she stood with her hands on her hips. She wore a cute red v-neck quarter sleeve top with a fluffy white scarf and white skinny jeans. She also wore black heeled ankle boots.

“Yeah,” I said and walked over and stopped at the end of the shortest line.

“Ready for your first full day?” Midnight raised an sculpted eyebrow at me.

“Not really, but what choice do I have?” I shook my head with a sigh. She giggled.

“You could just ditch?” she suggested, rolling her eyes as if it was the best and most obvious option.

“Skipping my first day, no way,” I crossed my arms.

“I can be your ditch buddy,” Midnight sang. I laughed at her. “Come on!”

“Sorry but, you’ll need to find a different ditch buddy,” I snorted.

“Whose ditching,” Kohl appeared. He looked hot in his black tee and jeans. Man, he’s muscular, I thought.

“No one I know of,” I shrugged.

“Too bad,” he sighed. Midnight and I rolled our eyes.

“Well, Midnight’s looking for a ditch buddy,” I grinned at her. She glared. What? I wondered.

“Only helping you out Fall, I got to go,” she stated, “later.”

Midnight twirled and headed to the door, her blonde waves swaying after her. I turned to Kohl and he was already looking at me. He smiled and glanced down at the ground. “What?”
