I woke up on a couch, my arm throbbing. How'd this bruise get there? I sat up and saw everybody was gone. I was worried until Mark showed up.
"Oh hey, you're up," was all he said before leaving again. "She's awake," I heard in the hallway. Footsteps crept in the living room and Angus came out first.
"You okay Hannah?" he asked sitting next to me. I gave a small nod.
"Yeah I think so," I said wincing. He handed me a glass of water that was on the table. "Thank you." He smiled at me.
"No problem."
"Hey look who's up," Malcolm said walking over. "Nothin' hurtin'?"
"My arm does a little."
"Yeah, sorry about that," he chuckled. I dismissed the comment though I was real confused. "So uh, you mind telling us why you- you know."
I couldn't tell them, there was enough problems already. I couldn't lie but I didn't want them worrying over me, it was nothing. "It just happens sometimes, it's-"
"But there must be a reason for 'em, we want to help you," Malcolm pressed.
"I'll tell you sometime, but I'm just too tired right now." Hopefully that was good enough for them. The brothers glanced at each other, then back at me. Malcolm nodded and left. I looked at Angus who quickly looked away from me. Like when we first met. We were much better friends now, but we could still be shy with each other. And perhaps everyone was right. He did somehow like me even though that didn't explain why he'd been ignoring me for Lucy. Unless he was embarrassed of me... That probably wasn't it. I felt bad being the cause of all the conflict with the band. If I'd known this would happen I wouldn't have stayed with them. But Margaret insisted and I was so cold... I missed her. She was so compassionate to me. In fact I missed the times before this trip. I missed my 2016 life.
I shook my head of my thoughts. One little glance from Angus and I lost track of myself. I hadn't even noticed he patted my shoulder and left to meet the rest of the boys. What a day this had been.
Angus stared at Hannah who was finally awake. He tried to see her eyes better without her noticing but she turned to face him and he looked away. He hated being so shy around her. They were good friends, he had nothing at all to be shy about. Unless... It was true. Ever since they had gotten to know each other Angus felt something for Hannah. Which didn't take long. But she wouldn't stay for long, and he didn't want to get too attached. So he pushed the feeling aside and in the process had landed himself a not so great girlfriend. Maybe she could have distracted him... No not a chance. Angus put a hand on Hannah's shoulder who looked lost in thought. He stood up and joined the rest of the band.
"She okay Ang?" Bon asked tossing him a lighter.
"Yeah, yeah she's fine," Angus replied quietly.
"What's the matter with you then?" Malcolm asked his brother. Angus lit a cigarette and sat on a chair.
"Can I tell you lads something?"
"'Bout time," Bon said.
