Malcolm left Angus alone in his dark room. The snow blew in his open window covering his things in white powder. As he got up to close it he thought of how cold and miserable Hannah would have been out there. When you've got nowhere to go, you'll say anything to get one. If she told them the truth they might have thought she was crazy and wouldn't let her stay. It's not like she lied only for the shelter but it was understandable. And if she hadn't stayed he wouldn't have gotten to know her and... Angus looked at the floor in thought. He might never get to see her again and he was spending his time in the dark alone. He turned from the window and headed for Hannah's room.

Angus came out from the shadows and eyed the two of us. "Am I interrupting anything?" Malcolm smiled at us.

"No I was just about to leave. I'll let him tell you Hannah." He stood up and walked out patting Angus on the shoulder and closing the door behind him. Angus slowly sat on the bed beside me.

"Tell you what?" he asked.

"Nothing." The silence that followed was excruciating. We didn't even make eye contact. I couldn't stand it anymore.

"I'm sorry," we both said at the same time. I put my hand over my mouth cracking up at the moment.

"What?" Angus asked. I shook my head.

"Nothing, nothing."

"Oh. Well I'm sorry for walking out like that. I should have said something."

"Same here. I'm really sorry for not telling you about- you know. It's just you guys were so kind to me, someone you never met and I didn't want to lose you guys by telling the truth. I feel horrible for lying though."

"You wouldn't lose us. You could lock us in cages and stick us in a zoo and you'd still have us. Face it, you're stuck with me," he laughed. I laughed along and he had calmed down. "It's just, I've had a lot of girls leave me or I've had to leave 'cause we've moved and I didn't want to go through that again."

"Yeah, Malcolm told me you've been through a lot of girls," I said messing with him as well.

"It hardly feels that way with you."

"And I bet you've said that line twice as much."

"I have not! You're the first one!"

"That one too."

"What about you and your little date with Malcolm? He's been with Linda for a long time and you allowed him to ask you out?"

"What have you been smoking? He never asked me that!" Now I was getting irritated.

"On the plane ride to New York he came over to you and-"

"No he didn't!" I interrupted. I could see Angus getting pissy as well. "I'm surprised you care so much, especially after ignoring me on that trip."

"I saved you on that trip. I spent a whole evening with you on that trip. I loved you on that trip and I love you now." I turned my head to look at him when it happened. I had gotten him so fed up that he spilled out all his feelings and kissed me. He took my face in his hands and just had at it. I didn't do much in return, mostly in shock of the situation.

He pulled away and looked into my eyes. "Sorry," I mumbled.

"Don't be. I'm the one who should be sorry. I didn't mean to tell you this way," he said.

"It's fine, it's fine, Malcolm kind of mentioned it."

"He did?" he asked getting upset again. "Dammit, what else did Malcolm say to you?"

"He didn't say anything else. Not to my face anyway."

"I'm gonna kill him."

"I'll just watch this time," I said smiling. I looked down and put my hands in my lap.

"He's right though," Angus said quietly.

"You like me huh?"

"Well, maybe just a smidge," he smiled imitating me. I smiled and gave him a hug glad to have my friend back.
