Once upon a time, there was a mummy werewolf and a daddy werewolf, and they loved each other very much. They lived in the pack house like everyone else and spent their days working for the pack and their nights in the outhouse with the other omegas. Now, their pack, the Blood Moon pack, was very fancy, being the birth pack of the Royal bloodline, so the outhouse wasn't so bad and the omegas were fairly awesome. From the sounds of it, who would want to hang out with the Alpha dogs anyway when you had your own family of hardworking, under-appreciated underdogs to chill with?

Then one day, the mummy werewolf and daddy werewolf had a baby boy called Khalil. This was quite an extraordinary feat for any werewolf, especially the lowly omegas. You see, unlike real wolves, werewolves struggle to conceive and struggle even more to successfully deliver their babies. It was nothing short of a miracle when Khalil emerged into the world in the Omega house. While baby Khal was growing up in the outhouse, blissfully unaware of his parents' low stations, the Blood Moon Luna had her own babies, yes, babies, because she simply had to upstage mummy Omega.

And so, there were three new babies in the Blood Moon Pack. Over the next few years, there would be other young additions, far and few between.  Mummy Omega would have another baby, Kiya. That's me! You see, not only was the birth of Kiya just as special as any other werewolf birth, but baby Kiya was a girl! Natural born female wolves are rare, them living long enough to be able to pronounce the word werewolf is even rarer, hence, the necessity of mates. After all, if the ratio of males to females is so out of balance, could you imagine the type of life those poor girls would have to live if we could mate with just any old wolf? Being fought over by the males, we'd be no less than breeders!

But, more on that later, now, back to the story. At this time, there are the alpha twins, omega siblings Khalil and Kiya, and maybe one or two other babies. Some humans may see five or six babies in three years as nothing, I've heard that some have families with more siblings than that! In the wolf community, this began to draw attention.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that wolves aren't the only supernaturals running around? Well, I guess it was implied. If there are werewolves, why not vampires and witches and fey and mermaids and those stupid-ass demons. I could go into detail about how we all came about but, honestly, the story changes just as frequently as the one about the birth of humans does. I mean, people! Make up your minds! Was it Adam and Eve, the whole carved from clay thing or the big bang? For us, it's the same as humans. We came to life somehow, believe we are of a higher intelligence than everyone else and destroy the earth accordingly. Unlike human's however, we prefer not to draw attention to ourselves. Humans destroy the ozone, we destroy the supernatural veil. Human's hunt whales and desecrate the rainforests, we hunt humans and accidentally burn down/terrorize/massacre a village. Same difference.

Anyway, you get the picture. Continuing on with the story. So, six babies, one of which was in the proud possession of two x-chromosomes. This inevitably drew the attention of The Others. We call them that, but they are like us. Mostly, they are a group of supernaturals who, ordinarily, try to stay out of everyone's way. Most supernaturals stick to their own species, Werewolves live in packs and Vampires in Clans and we try to stay out of each others' way. The Others? Think of them as multiculturalism gone wrong. In my opinion, I think the Others are hated because they dared to form a pack with more variety and, therefore, more power than ours. But, they do this whole weird interbreeding thing which leads to hybrids. Yuck! And, even though they have their little hybrid babies, hybrid grandbabies are out of the question. Probably because having more than one supernatural spirit inside the body would destroy the host or something like that.

So, when the Blood Moon Pack learned that the girl was not only the second baby for mummy and daddy but also an Omega, they took her away to live a life of luxury with the hot twins to live protected in the rich-ass pack house and banned her from ever having to do shitty chores in her life. NOT! Actually, the Alpha had Mummy whisked away instead to be studied, to try to figure out what made her so special to be able to have a baby girl.

Over time, daddy werewolf became more withdrawn. Looking back, I can see it was because their bond was breaking. True mates are a rare thing to find, but my parents had theirs'. I heard from the other omegas that the only thing that can weaken the bond is death, but even then, they stay mated for eternity. I don't like to think about what they did to mummy to weaken a true mate bond, but I can guess that she probably isn't entirely my mummy anymore, or even any type of sane wolf.

Baby Kiya was only a few months old when The Others came. All those babies and, well I guess The Others had the same idea as the Alpha did, to capture and study the breeding machines and their offspring. You can guess what happened then. Hint, there was lots of blood, lots of death, and with a daddy who'd lost the will to live and an older brother who was a lowly omega toddler and couldn't defend himself.

It was the single act of kindness the Luna ever bestowed upon an omega, that day, she found baby Kiya, threw her in the compost bin with enough rotting food to hide her scent from The Others. The next day, Kiya was found by one of the remaining Omegas and brought back to the outhouse.

The orphan girl, me, didn't cry, because she didn't know what she lost that day. But, as they say, it takes a pack of omegas to raise a child, and boy did they ever.
