Kiya P.O.V
After the mention of the death of my family, I wasn't in the mood to tell the whole story. Mates or not, they know enough now. It's my most closely guarded secret, one only a few of the Omegas know about me. Now they know about my guilt, I hope they don't go looking further into the story.
Ty's arms tighten around me, "Kiya, how? Tell us. Now."
He and Dom have been trying to coerce me into telling them for the last few minutes, and I've been trying to coerce me into telling them what happened. Meanwhile, I've been trying to change the subject. Let it be said, my mates are nothing if not persistent.
My coping method? Ignore them and continue telling my friends what I've been up to since I left, "Then, I kid you not, this Zeta chic like drops to her knees and like, professes her undying loyalty to me. Like I'm already the Luna."
"What about all those cuts all over you? We can't let her get away with all that." Maven demanded.
I shrug, "I consider it a challenge. Who's up for a new plan? I'm calling it Operation Viking."
"Kiya." Dom's voice is low. They've been getting progressively more impatient with me the longer I've been ignoring them.
I dutifully ignore him, "Viking?" Wyatt questions.
I nod, "If you saw this chick, you'd get it. She's like an annoying Slavic goddess or like, a Valkyrie or something, totally unrealistic if you asked me."
Alex grins widely, "I'm in!"
My grin matches his, "Good. So I'm thinking her hair needs to be restyled..."
"KIYA! Dammit!"
I wrench myself out of Ty's grip, accidentally catapulting myself across our little circle and onto Maven.
I push off his chest and spin around to face my mates, "Don't you go swearing at me! You have no damn right to be pissed at me! If I don't want to fucking tell you shit about my family then you can bet your asses you aren't going to know shit!"
Dom propels himself to his feet and I follow, trying to keep the gap between us to a minimum. I'm over five and a half foot, making me pretty average height in the human world and on the shorter side for wolves. Regardless, I learned the value of trying to seem as tall and imposing as possible at a young age when, with me being a girl, I reached my growth spurt long before the boys and used it to my advantage for as long as I could before they overtook me.
Unfortunately, Dom seems to have learned the 'tall and imposing' lesson too, and he looks like he plans on using it. On me. Ass.
"We are your mates! If we ask you a question, you answer it." He said in a low, dangerous voice.
I point my nose up at him, "Fuck that. Mates or not, some things are personal. You don't need to know about my family, it happened, it's over, it doesn't affect you so bloody move on."
Ty was standing too now and, let me tell you, the sight of my two mates standing there looking all alpha...yum!
I breathe deeply, fighting off my thoughts, there is no way I'm letting my hormones get the better of me. Besides, I have a feeling if I start now, we'll never be able to get through a proper argument without me jumping their bones. No way am I caving to them in front of my friends, deal or no deal.
Ty stands over me, "It seems pretty obvious to me that this is still affecting you. There are not suppose to be secrets between us! If we want to know why you think you killed your family, you'll tell us."
