Even after the Omega Home dissapears behind the shadows of the trees, Ty is still carrying my murderous form over his shoulder. Eventually, he lets me walk on my own two feet with the promise of letting me kill Alex tomorrow and even offering to hold him down for me (I may be the fastest of my gang, but ALex is damn strong). After that, we pick the path down back to the Pack House in silence. The sun has left now and there are only a few pink wisps of light to be seen over the trees.
My skin itches and I want so badly to let my wolf free. Only twice have I tapped into that part of me and it felt amazing, like I was finally free. I'd literally been waiting my whole life for that moment, sort of like a human might wait their whole lives to graduate or get married or get their dream job, my dream, my milestone, was to shift into my wolf.
However, as much as I wanted to, the tension between my mates and I was getting thicker and I knew now wasn't the time. When we made it to the house, the lights were on all over the monstrous building. I told them to wait for me before running inside through the basement and yelling a goodnight to my pack. Everyone was running around, dinner was almost over but there were still dishes to wash and laundry baskets to be sent and last minute runs to the bathrooms to restock the soaps among a hundred other chores to be done before they can begin to wind down for the night shift. I wanted to help out, but I've rarely ever been down here after seven. By now I'm normally in the house babysitting until the adults can come home to their kids.
I get a chorus of goodnights and Janet calls all the way from the kitchen, "Tell those boys I'm too old for grandbabies and my Rose is too young!"
I laugh, hoping the shadows hide my blush when I return to the twins and lead them the long way up a hill and to the back entrance to the house. No point in the three of us clogging the tunnels while they're all in use.
When we get to the more developed land that makes up the backyard/training area/ courtyards of the back of the pack house, Ty takes the lead while Dom stays a few feet behind me.
I'm starting to get really freaking tired of this silent treatment. We go through the back door and up the elevator. There is still a small crowd gathered in the foyer, but we jump the cue and take the next elevator available. While we're waiting, Ty and Dom make polite conversation with some of the people. Only a select few even bother to give me a quick "Hi" before turning their full attention to the Royals. To be expected I guess.
Some old lady with stark black, half-millimetre lines she probably calls eyebrows, asked who I was. Naturally, they asked Ty, not me. Who could dream of actually asking me right? No, clearly, clearly my hair is so frizzy that there is simply no way I could hear her question through all that fuzz so we'll just go on asking questions about her like she isn't here. Pompous-slime-balls the lot o' them!
On the contrary, I sort of wanted to hear what Ty had to say to that. Much to my chagrin, he simply began to ask them a question before they could even finish asking who I am, causing the forty-something lady to go on and on about her advertising for a debutant ball and how the roses were white! My oh my, wicked Queen why, you could paint the roses redder than any have seen. Please oh she with eyebrows so thin, they make her forehead look like a chin.
Fuck! Now I'm talking in rhymes and quoting fairy tales. I don't cope with the silent treatment well.
They continued this routine all the way until we stepped off on the fourth floor and ascended the stairs to the fifth. When we reached the hallway leading to the twins' side of the level, I put my foot down.
" Is that how we're playing this now?"
Ty glances over his shoulder at me, but Dom keeps walking. I send a glare at Ty, but at least he's off the hook, sort of, for bribing me into not killing my best friend...then offering to help me if I do. I'm still mad but I'm also too tired to split my wrath between both of them.
