*********** Kiya P.O.V ***********
It could be seconds, minutes or even hours as far as I'm aware that I stare into the eyes of my Alpha for the first time. The King of Wolves. I can feel his power washing over me and I feel like the weight of the world is being dropped on my shoulders, forcing me down, to bow, to submit. The room fades away and I'm left with nothing but a primal instinct forcing me not to back down. I clench my teeth, forcing myself not to look away even as my body shakes and trembles. Honestly, I don't think I could have told you my own name at that point.
The King looked shocked at my reaction when I met his eyes from across the room, then, if I'm not mistaken, amused by my defiance. The thought made me even madder. He gave me the same look one might give a toddler when they make their cute little demands for 'Billy' to let them have a turn on the swing or else 'you won't be invited to my next birthday party.' I felt like that toddler while he was the amused parent, and I hated it. When I finally halted before him, he finally let his own Alpha command wash over me. I bit my tongue to fight back a whimper. Sneaky bastard. What I'd thought was his dominance was simply the hateful pheromones of the assembled alphas of the room all directed at me. Finally, my own alpha, the King, unleashed his fury on me in a silent wave that had my breakfast rising in my throat. I clenched my teeth so hard I could swear I heard them creaking, but when I didn't succumb, well, you can use your imagination to guess exactly how angry it made the Alpha of one of the most powerful werewolf packs on the planet get upstaged by an eighteen-year-old Omega. I stood on wobbly legs, refusing to back down even as my low growls faded to audible whimpers.
I shake and shudder under the power, but hold his eyes. However, as I said, I'm an eighteen-year-old Omega who just had her first shift yesterday. It felt like hours but was probably only a few seconds before I felt my knees crack against the hard marble steps. I let out an embarrassingly pathetic whimper when my head fell forward so my chin could be introduced to my chest, more at the slight relief of finally breaking eye contact than the actual pain of falling. In a last-ditch effort, I straightened my shoulders and just barely tilted my head down to look at the floor, not tilting my chin high enough to expose my neck in surrender like I've heard wolves are expected to, like the Alpha is trying to force me to do.
I distantly register the hateful snarls emerging from the Princes. Hmm, nice to know the Alpha isn't the only one my defiance is pissing off. Good. Because by now, I'm more than a little pissed off too. I can still feel his eyes boring down on me. Pfft, dramatic much?
I chuckle, "Are you going to condemn me George, or just keep admiring my hair? I could give you a few tips before it's too late, looks like you're already starting to thin out up the top there, bossman so I can't say how useful my hair tips would be, if that's why you're STILL staring at me."
I smile wider hearing the Luna gasp along with everyone else in the room as the twins' snarling is cut short.
For a second, the Alpha command vanishes and I look up. What, did he drop dead from my balding joke or something? I have barely enough time to register his hazel eyes screaming bloody murder on my person before that goddess-awful Alpha dominance power slams into me, making me cry out at the sudden onslaught. It's not a sharp or burning pain, more like I suddenly gained five-hundred-pounds and am currently being slammed into the floor. I can't focus on anything, not my wolf whinnying or my own cries of anguish or the Alpha's words as I fly backward and writhe on my back on the carpeted floor. I'm guessing he got bored of torturing me, or maybe pissed because I couldn't focus enough to process his evil little speech on which body parts my defiance has cost me and in what order, because suddenly, the weight is lifted, leaving me panting on the floor.
I try to pick myself up, listening to the almost deafening growls and snarls circling me, not that I can pinpoint who they are coming from, me, the alpha, or someone else. I'm slumped over on my side, using the small recesses of energy I have left to push myself up onto my elbows and flick my hair, meeting the King's vengeful gaze with my own.
"That the best you got, top dog?" What? I'm probably about to be executed anyway, may as well have a bit of fun with the man who made my life a suppressed-mess of a living hell half the time. Well, fun may be too strong of a word, but I'm not going down without pissing him off in the same way he's been pissing me off my entire life, at least a little. I may have limited time before he eventually bests me and kills me but, luckily, I'm something of an expert in the area.
The Alpha King growled. A deep, animalistic sound that set the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up and made me shiver. He looked down on me, speaking low and so calm that I can practically feel the weeks worth of torturous promises behind each word. "Omega. You are here to answer for your crimes against the River Run pack Beta. For the attempted assassination, you would be executed in such a way as you suffer the burning, breathless pain of the poor boy you tried to steal the life from this afternoon. However, for your disrespect of your alpha..."
I laughed loudly. Hysterically. I think I've lost it but I don't care. "Bossman, there are soooo many things wrong with that statement. Despite my 'disrespectful ways', I wouldn't want you to embarrass yourself further. Let me straighten out a few things before you make a bigger ass of yourself." I sit up on my knees, having gained some of my strength back, and flick my hair back so I can meet his black eyes, "First, my name is Kiya Rose, not Omega. Second, it was the betas' SON, not the Beta, who ate the damn fish. Third, if I WERE going to assassinate someone with a fish allergy, do you seriously think I'd plate the fish with the damn tail and head still attached? There is no way in HELL that hunk'a meat wasn't fish so can you really blame me for poisoning him when he would have had to be blind and a complete idiot to not know that the fish shaped slab on his plate was a damned fish? While we're at it, is anyone else seeing the irony of the RIVER run Beta being allergic to fish who, unless I'm mistaken, live in stupid rivers? Not to mention...ugh!"
That last part is because the Alpha kicked me square in the nose, forcing me down on my back again. If he was calm mad before, well, I think I broke the calm. Good, it was beginning to scare me and we can't have both of our brains being clouded with emotions if I was gonna make an escape plan. Unfortunately, I forgot my biggest problem, Georgie boy is the FREAKING ALPHA!
Before I had time to get back up or even consider shifting, a hand clasped around my throat and the Alpha growled at me, more animal than human, "You will die for your insubordination Omega bitch!" On the word 'bitch', his grip tightened and black spots blotted out my vision of his purple, veined face.
I felt myself spin on my back before briefly lifting off the ground. I groaned midair in anticipation of Newtons' Law being put to the test. I'm pretty sure I blacked out for a few seconds from oxygen deprivation before what went up, went down hard on the marble dais steps for the second time today. Black dots prevented me from seeing any clear shapes. I pissed him off alright. If I weren't choking on air, I'd probably been reveling in the knowledge that I cracked the King of Wolves in his own throne room and made him go Hulk. Too bad all that blind rage was meant for me.
I was briefly aware of my wolf rising to the surface, more so now that she has been all day but, for some reason, I couldn't find the will to shift. With her heightened senses, I still can't see but I have a vague sense of two figures, one crouching over me protectively, the other facing off with the Alpha King before me.
