Catherine's POV

I was honestly confused. Why did he look like a kid who found out his dog died? I just got here.

"Oh, hey Catherine," he said looking down and standing up from the bench with his hands in his pocket.

"You didn't tell me you had a boyfriend," he said scowling at the ground with extreme ferocity.

"He is not my boyfriend, but he is my best friend in the whole entire universe. I've known him since we were in diapers," I explained to him.

His face brightened up a little after that. At least he wasn't glaring holes at the ground anymore. He still looked suspiciously at Jovani. Like he thought he would steal something.

"Hey, I'm Jovani," he said holding his free hand out. I then realised we were still holding hands and I dropped my hand from his.

"I'm Lucas."

They then did the universal guy handshake that I think everyone knew.

"Why did you want to meet up," I asked because I was honestly curious. I never expected a second glance from someone like him, yet he asked me to meet him in the park.

"Is it a crime to want to see a friend," he said taking a step closer to me.

Jovani visibly tensed up next to me. Lucas saw it too,but he didn't move back.

"What are we gonna do here," I said trying to ease the tense air.

"I was thinking we would just hang out." He said with a shrug.

"I'll leave you two to it," Jovani said backing up.

"What? No," I said disappointed.

"It's clear he wanted you by yourself. I'm not going to be a third wheel."

"Come over later. I want to catch up," I pleaded.

"Sure, that sounds great. 8:00?"

"8:00" I said with a nod.

After he had led the park, Lucas grabbed my hand and said, "Let's go on the swings," he said with a childish excitement.
