Chapter 1

Jordan's POV
"Honey, wake up. It's your first day of 7th grade today, Jordan!" my mother calls as she attempts to wake me up. I groan back.
"Be down in the kitchen in 30 for breakfast"
"Yes, mother"
I have my eyes close, but I can feel her smiling.
*Time skip 15 minutes*
I walk down the hall and stop at the framed picture of Alexander Hamilton. I study the picture. I feel a smile cross my face. I think of Alexander and all the good he's done for the country. A blurry figure stands at the corner of my eye. My mother stands there. Was she watching me the whole time?
"You have his eyes, Jordan"
"I have his smarts and good looks too" I say causing her to giggle.
"Come to the table and eat breakfast. I made your favorite." I see pancakes with chocolate chips inside them with whip cream and strawberries on top. My mother works so hard and does so much for me
"Thank you, mother"
I finish breakfast and walk to the car outside waiting on the driveway. My mother takes me to school and we have a casual talk on the way to school.
"Don't forget you have piano practice today, Jord"
"What song are we doing today?" My mother was my piano teacher. It's fun to have her around a lot.
"You choose today" she says with a smile
"Yessss!" I say excitedly
"Also, Aunt Marilyn a is coming over today, Jordan so we won't be going out tonight." my mom says.
"All she really wants is our money, mom"
She gives me a disappointed look.
"Sorry, mom"
"It's alright she kinda does though"

An hour or so passes
"Why do we have to live so farrrr??" I whine.
"Whatever it takes to get a good education, Jordan"
I nod in agreement.
15 minutes passes
"Bye mom!" I yell waving my hand aggressively. I see her drive away laughing. It's fun to see her smile.
I stand in front of the doors.

"School, I love school." I say excitedly
I push open the doors to see a bunch of people running around and yelling.
"School, I love school." I say sarcastically.

I walk to my first period class and see a couple of girls laughing, taking selfies, and getting their supplies together.
I see two girls taking a selfie together. One blurts out hashtags. The other one makes silly faces.

#Bestie
#2Cool4School"
I walk slowly and stare at them for a while. They seem so
Happy
One winks at me and the other blows me a kiss.
I nervously smile at them.

"OMG HE SMILED AT ME!! DID YOU SEE THAT?!?!"
"NO HE SMILED AT ME!!"
"UGH YOU UGLY BITCH!" the girl says and pushes her to the locker.
The other girl pushes her back but they both fall to ground in front of me.
I offer a hand but they seem too mad to care.
Well I just broke up a friendship. Nice job, Jordan.
I walk past them fast trying to not call attention.

I can't seem to find my first period class. I walk up to a teacher I see in the hallway.
"Um excuse me miss, c-can you tell me where room um 209 is?"
"Sure thing sweetie. Take the stairs and it'll be the first room on your right."
"Thank you, miss"
"Ms.Vone."
"Thank you, Ms.Vone"

I find my way to the stairs to see Nathan Laurens and some boys leaning on the stair railings.
God he's so cute
"Hey" Nathan says sounding like he wants to talk casually.
"hEY!" I say overly excited.
He looks a bit confused but keeps a conversation going
I don't pay attention him. I just study his eyes. His eyes are so pretty.
Snap
"So does it sound like a plan, Jordan?"
"Huh?"
"Going to the library. The one across the school. I heard we needed to buy our text books today."
"Yeah sure. Meet you after school"
"Sweet" he says with a smile.

Am I crushing on Nathan Laurens??? He's a boy, does that seem right? I have lots of girls liking me and desperate for my attention. But Nathan, he just seems so sweet and calm. We've been best friends since last year, 6th grade.

The library. Oh man I've got to tell my mom I'm going to be late. Wait! But what about Aunt Marilyn?? Forget her!I've got a date with Nathan Laurens! Wait is this even a date???
It's just book shopping.
Whatever I'm calling it a date in my head.
I walk to first period.
