It's the morning of the wedding. I wake up to the sound of a knock on my door. It's Jane. She steps inside carrying my dress and accessories. As she sets my dress down on a chair, she looks over at me.
"Honey, I hate to break it to you but, we have four hours to get ready for this wedding and you're still in bed, looking like a mess. Have you even eaten yet?" I shake my head. I've been in bed since I woke up thinking that maybe if I don't face what's gonna happen today, maybe it just won't. Jane rushes out of the room and comes back a few minutes later with a tray of breakfast. I finish eating and Jane rushes me into a bath. When she's done, she starts to do my nails and call in two other girls to do my hair. Julian stops by while I'm getting ready to wish me good luck. I know I'm gonna need it.
By the time it's lunch, I'm apparently half-way ready. The ladies have been poking my hair, washing my face, and just generally touching me for about two hours. I'm incredibly tired. After lunch, they tell me that it's time for me to put on my dress. Jane grabs it and pulls in over my head. As she starts lacing up the back, the two other ladies start on my makeup. Suddenly, Jane turns me around towards the mirror so I can see myself. She places the veil on my head and steps away, admiring her work. Before I can even take in how I look, I hear a knock at the door. Jane opens it and whoever it is scares her so much that she looks over at the other ladies and they run out of the room with her. A figure steps into the room and when I turn to see who it is, my jaw drops. It's Cal. I run to him and throw my arms around him. Just seeing him again is enough to make me forget what I'm about to go through with. He's wearing a tux and is holding a single, red rose. He offers it to me as I break away from him. I don't even know what to say. I take the rose from him.
"So, Cal, umm w-what are you doing here?" I stutter. I'm glad he's here but I'm so confused. Why would he come?
"I got your invitation and I wasn't gonna come at first but, I just had to see you. Do you not want me here?"
"Cal, of course I want you here. You are the love of my life and I'm doing this for you. It's gonna hurt, marrying someone I don't love in front of the person I love the most in the world, but I need you here." I step towards him and plant a kiss on his lips. As we pull away, I can see the sadness in his eyes.
"I'll see you at the ceremony Mare," he says, as he quickly slips out the door. It's kinda short but I promise it's for a reason the next chapter will be longer and more interesting just thought I'd leave you with a cute moment before that. - Just Jules
