Chapter 11: New Problems

Diamond

3:47 PM

I needed someone to talk to. Someone besides my mom and Patrick. I fiddled with my phone in my hand, thinking of whether or not to call up Tammy. She's probably still giving me the silent treatment. Fuck it. The past is the past, I'm still learning to put it behind me and move forward, but I need her.

I dialed her number and waited for an answer. "Hello?"

"Tammy, hey." I spoke into the phone.

"Diamond...hey what's up?"

"I just wanted to apologize to you, for what had happened a few days ago. I know it wasn't anything you wanted to hear, I just felt attacked and needed defense. I'm so sorry."

"No, it's fine I guess. I just had to get away from the drama for a while, but I did miss my best friend."

I smiled. "I missed you too, how's Diana doing?"

"She's doing fine, she kept begging me to go over there so she can play with the boys. I guess now it's okay right?" She chuckled.

"Yeah of course, is today okay with you?"

"Yeah that's fine, I'll get us both ready now. I'll see you when I get there."

"Okay, see you later." I then ended the call. A burst of relief and joy embraced me. I missed Tammy a lot, I'm glad we made up and finally spoke to each other.

While I focused on the TV, the boys came running down the stairs. Christian came and cuddled up under me while Owen and Antonio ran to the toy bin in the corner of the room. I rubbed my fingers through Christian's hair while he watched TV with me. "Mommy?" He called, looking up at me.

"Yes baby?" I answered, staring back at him. A saddened look spread across his little face.

"I miss daddy."

My heart hurt for him and Antonio. I don't know what to tell them when we talk about Anthony, and I know it's hard for them to adjust to being around Patrick and not their own father. "I know Christian, and I know he misses you too."

"Why did he leave? I want him to come back." Christian said resting his head on my chest.

"I know you do baby, but daddy left for a reason. He'll be back."

I know I didn't want to believe it, but it was true. Anthony will be coming back and when he does, things will be hectic. He's not going to return without revenge in his heart.

4:23 PM

The kids and I were eating the cake we baked yesterday while we watched cartoons. After a few minutes, the doorbell had chimed. I got up to open the door. It was Tammy and Diana. "Hey." I greeted warmly while Tammy and I gave each other a great embrace.

"Wow, I missed speaking to you." Tammy smiled. I let them enter the house and settle in. Diana ran right over to Owen and Antonio to play. I rejoined Christian on the couch and Tammy and I caught each other up on what happened in the past few days.

"We don't know for sure if Anthony was really here but it creeped me out a lot." I told, finishing up my story.

"Damn, that's crazy. Did you find any evidence or anything?" Tammy asked, swooping her cherry red hair to her right shoulder.
