*TWO DAYS LATER*
Tommy sat in a comfortable padded chair as the doctor poked at Trish. His gaze never left the floor. "You took quite a beating, sweetheart." The doctors breath smelled only of coffee and sandwich. Trish pulled back, further into her bed. She looked down towards his name tag.
"Axel"
"I'm okay now but I would like to see Chris. Is she okay?" Trish looked around and didn't see her. Tommy approached Trish's bed as Axel packed up his medical kit on the cart beside him. "Trish, she went to call her parents." Trish suddenly remembered the demise of her own mother and began to tear up. "Is mom...Is she..?"
Tommy nodded in regret, wiping tears from his eyes. Chris walked into the room, a slight limp in her right leg. "Trish, you're awake!" Chris ran to her bedside and hugged her. Tommy moved back, letting the two hold each other. "I'm so sorry about your mother, Trish.. if I could change it, I would..."
Trish held on tighter, gripping even harder to Chris's sweater. Tommy backed up further and walked back to his chair. He sat down and reached for the novel beside him, analyzing the cover. "The Dead Are ALIVE!" by Harold Sherman.
"You called your parents? Did they answer?" Chris rubbed the blanket on Trish's bed in-between her fingers. "Yeah, they're on their way now. They just got back... Trish, I want you and Tommy to stay with us. Please. It's the least I can do." Trish nodded and began to smile, tears still residing on her cheeks.
"Okay. We will."
Meanwhile, back at the cabin, police were cleaning up the crime scene. They loaded Jason's corpse into the ambulance and slammed the doors. "Jesus Mary, what a bloodbath." The paramedics retreated to their vehicle and started the engine. In the back of the ambulance, Jason's cold body laid in a black body bag. Everything was still, and then, suddenly, his body moved up slightly, almost as if he were breathing.
