Believe it or Not

After I watched the scene (above) where Cas was singing to a baby Believe it or Not, I always thought him and the brothers would watch The Greatest American Hero (its the theme song) and thats how he learned the words. Or maybe it was at karaoke night who knows

Dean returned with two beers to the table he and I occupied. "To what Cas?" Dean raised his beer. After a moment of thinking I raised his beer as well, "To us." Dean chuckled knowing Cas didn't know how that sounded but went along with it.

"Hey!" Sam entered the karaoke bar and sat down at our table. A drunk man was upstage singing Im Too Sexy and was being ambushed by the crowds booing and heckling, but still he kept singing. If you could call if that. It was more just stuttering parts of the lyrics out in between drinks. After what seemed like forever, the man finally stepped down and left the bar, after cursing out some of his haters.

"I dare you both to go up there." Sam snarked. "Hell no." Dean scoffed back. "Why not? You guys know a song or two." Sam pushed. "Not unless we get something out of it." I looked at them both and laughed. There was no way Sam could make Dean  go up there and sing sober. "100 bucks says you will do it." Sam pulled out a hundred from his wallet and slapped it in front of us. Dean and I looked at the money and eyed each other. To my surprise, he took the money and put it into the pocket of his dark green jacket.

He took a large drink from his bottle and winked at me. "100 bucks doesn't lie Sammy." He said before getting out of his chair and him and I made out way to the stage.

I put our mics on the stands while he requested a song. This was my first time on stage, and I was nervous. I looked at Dean who was now standing beside me and I started to feel  received. He looked confident, but I can tell he was a little nervous as well. We exchanged glances before the song started to play.

The instrumental intro began and I immediately recognized it as the theme song from The Greatest American Hero, Believe it or Not. Sometimes the brothers and I would have a tv night with a bowl of popcorn. We would watch in Sam's room since it was the only room that had a tv. This was the first tv show I had ever watched since I fell and it is my all time favorite. I looked at Dean with the surprised look on my face. His face lit up with a smile and began to sing.

"Look at whats happening to me, I cant believe it myself. Suddenly Im on top of the world. It should've been somebody else."

He has such a beautiful voice I have never heard him actually sing before. He looks at me and Its my turn. I look at the screen with the lyrics on my right, even though I have heard this song countless times.

"Believe it or not, Im walkin' on air, I never thought I could feel so free. Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer, Who could it be? Believe it or not It's just me."

My face turns bright read as I finish singing the chorus. I turn to Dean who looks like he is having to time of his life.

"Just like the light of a new day, it hit me from out of the blue, breaking me out of the spell I was in, making all my wishes come true."

His voice is so strong and bold, he sounds like he could be a fantastic country singer.

He winks at me, giving me confidence as we go into the chorus together.

"Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air! I never thought I could feel so free! Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer, who could it be, believe it or not its just me!"

We both belted out those lines and we were soon dancing along to it on stage.

"This is too good to be true." I sang. "Look at me falling for you." I blushed. "Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air! I never thought I could feel so free! Flyin away on a wing and a prayer, who could it be, believe it or not its just me!"

I switched it over to Dean so he repeated the chorus.

"Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air! I never thought I could feel so free! Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer, who could it be, believe it or not its just me!"

We both repeat it once more, soulfully this time to end our performance.

"Believe it or not, I'm walking on air@!I never thought I could feel so free! Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer, who could i be," We quieted down for the very last line. "Believe it or not, Its just...meeeee."

We sounded so harmonized on our last note. The music stopped and I haven't realized how much I have been smiling. We received so much applause it made me smile even more.

I met up with Dean in the middle of the stage, we grabbed hands and did the cheesiest bow that crowd has ever seen. But this night will forever be one of my favorite memories. I looked over at Dean and saw he had the same wide, uncontrollable smile as I did. I can't stop smiling and because of that I kind of feel like an idiot, but he and I felt like idiots together.

After our broadway bow, there we saw Sam in the front row right by the stage cheering us on. He probably didn't think we would pull it off. Dean flashed me the hundred from his pocket and grinned. I knew he was going to use his half to buy pie.
