Kellin

I woke up in an uncomfortable bed and all too familiar white room. Sunlight streamed into the room, I slightly squinted my eyes so I could see better. There was no doctor in the room at the moment, odd. Everything was silent except for the annoying beeping noise coming from the heart monitor.

My throat and mouth felt dry, which is usual for me.

"Hello Kellin, long time no see." Doctor Momsen, my regular doctor said writing down random stuff on her clipboard. I don't know what the hell she could possibly be writing, I haven't even said anything yet.

"You're in here for the tenth time this year, for the same reason." She sighed. I stayed silent.

"I think it's safe to say that you have an eating disorder, Kellin." She continued. I wanted to argue, I wanted to say that I was fine and this was normal, but it's not. I'm not normal.

"Here." She handed me a cup of water. "Drink this, you're mouth is probably dry." I gulped down the water and instantly felt better.

"Well, you're stable so we'll release you to your mom now." She handed me my clothes and I got up to change

"And Kellin," she said, stopping me. "Things will get better." And with that she walked out. What's going to get better? My weight? Because we all know that's a lie. I shook my head and went to the nearest bathroom to change.

I went to the waiting room to find my mom, who was by the front desk signing discharge papers.

"We have to go to your school." Was the only thing my mom said. I was going to ask why but I was in no mood to talk.

"Hello Kellin, Mrs. Bostwick, if you would follow me to my office that would be great." My principal said, mainly to my mom.

"So you are aware that this is the third time someone has caught Kellin purging in our bathrooms." He explained to my mother. She nodded.

"By state law, we are required to suspend Kellin until he isn't a threat to himself and others."

"So you're denying my education because I have..issues with eating?" I blurt out.

"Well that's not-"

"No that's exactly what it is!" I exclaimed.

"Kellin that's enough." My mom scolded. I huffed and slouched in my chair.

"Mrs. Bostwick, have you considered and sending Kellin to Birchwood (random name lolol)? They have excellent doctors that excel in children like Kellin." He said and handed pamphlets to my mom. From my knowledge, Birchwood was a mental facility north of my town.

"No, but I think it'll be good for him." My mom said while looking through the pamphlet. I shot my mom a glare and sinked lower into my seat.

"Well that will be all for today. Thank you for coming in. I look forward to seeing you well and healthy Kellin." My principal gave us a fake smile that made me roll my eyes.

***

"You're going here." My mom said, starting the car.

"I'm not crazy! What the fuck." I yelled.

"Kellin Quinn Bostwick! You're going here first thing tomorrow morning and that's final. I'm signing you up tonight." My mother scolded me. I violently wiped away the tears that started forming in my eyes. If only there was some way to extend my time before going...or shorten it.

My mom pulled up to the house, I shot out of the car and ran to the bathroom.

"I will not be sent to a fucking mental hospital." I muttered to no one in particular while shuffling through drawers and cabinets looking for my moms pain killers. I opened the last draw in the bathroom and of course, I had no luck.

"FUCK!" I yelled, not caring if anyone heard. I stomped to my room and slammed my door. I turned and the first thing I saw was my reflection in the mirror that was hanging from my door.

"God, why am I so fat." I spat. I flopped on to my bed and started crying. I'm fine, I don't need to be in some dumb hospital. I shook the thought and made myself comfortable in my bed and drifted off into a calm, peaceful sleep.

(Time skip to morning)

"Kellin get up, we have to go soon."

Maybe if I just wrap the blanket around my neck...

"KELLIN!" My mom yelled.

"Alright alright I'm up." I said loud enough for her to hear.

I got out of bed and changed into some skinny jeans, a flannel and mcr shirt. I took one look in the mirror. All I saw was fat and ugly pale skin.

"Kellin we have to go!" My mom called me from downstairs. I took once last look at my room and grabbed the bag of clothes my mom packed for me last night before heading downstairs.

***

We pulled up into the driveway of the hospital and went inside.

My mom went to the front desk and started filling out papers while I looked around.

Everyone here looks fine, just like me. There was all sorts of people here, one boy had a blue streak running through his hair, while another had a red streak. They must be friends. There was this other boy with long, curly brown hair who looked awfully sad. There was a girl with green hair and pale skin like me.

"You must be Kellin." Some girl, I'm assuming she's a doctor here, said to me. I nodded slightly.

"I'm Doctor Williams but feel free to call me Hayley." I nodded again. Hayley had bright orange hair and was extremely peppy. Why on earth would she want to work here?

"Here is your clothes. You only have to wear them for a week, then you can change into regular, everyday clothes." She handed me a couple of white shirts and slack. I hesitantly took them out of her hand.

"From what I know, you'll be rooming with Vic, in room 206." she pointed to the sad boy with curly hair. "He's a little shy but I think he'll warm up to you, vice versa." I nodded and looked back at the boy, Vic, he was utterly attractive if you ask me.

"You can go get changed and come back here." I turned to say goodbye to my mom, but to my dismay she was already gone.

"Oh here," Hayley handed me a bright red wristband, like the ones they give you in the emergency room. "The color so for classification. Blue is for drug addiction, Purple is for suicide attempts, Red is for eating disorders. There's other but you don't need to know those." I nodded and went to go change into the bland clothing.

I came back out and went back to Hayley.

"Alright I'm going to give you a brief tour. The room in front of us is the rec room, where you will spend most of your time." She continued showing me rooms but I zoned out for most of the time.

"You got the jist of it?" I nodded my head as if I've been paying attention.

"I'll lead you back to the rec room."

I went and sat down in a spot where there wasn't many people. Everyone was staring at me, well not at me but the paper strip around my wrist that determined who I was from now on.
