Chapter Four Part Three

We ended up walking until I saw the edge of where a little picnic table was. I stopped and looked at Tyler.

"Want to climb this tree with me?" I asked. He nodded and his smile grew back onto that precious face I've grown to love so much.

I held out my hand and he took a hold of it. I grew a smile as well on my face. I thought his hand fit ever so perfectly into mine. It was soft as I pulled him up. I set my foot on a branch and we started to climb. We finally made it to about ten feet. We looked over the water. You wouldn't be able to see it unless you were that high.

Tyler climbed right in front of me and I put my arm around the stem of the tree. I also put my free arm around Tyler. He grew a huge grin and looked at me. We looked over the treetops and I knew I shouldn't have done this so I thought we should get down.

While climbing down as we got about two feet from the ground Tyler got stuck. I was on the dirt full ground as my feet crunched on the snow below my feet. I assisted Tyler. I held onto his foot as his I untangled his shoelace from the little sap that was holding him captive.

"Arg." He exclaimed as the shoelace stuck to his shoe.

"I'll help you down." I said as Tyler nodded to give me permission.

I grabbed his thigh and the sole of his back. He slipped and we fell on the ground. As we hit the ground Tyler ended up falling on my stomach and on my crotch. I let out an 'oof' sound.

"Are you okay?" Tyler asked

"Yeah, I'm okay." I said as he got off of me.

"So, why did you bring me out here?" he asked as we got up and off the ground.

I hesitated a little before I could get the words out of my mouth and he asked again but more aggressive.

"J? Why did you bring me out here?"

"Your mom talked to me last night." I then walked over to the tree we recently climbed and I sat on. I hopped onto a large branch and Tyler sat beside me.

"What did she say?" he asked as he placed his small cold hand on my thigh.

I looked at Tyler as he gave me that 'give me an answer' look.

"I know where you stand, silent in the trees, and that's- where I am. Silent in the trees." He whispered under his breath. I knew he wasn't doing okay. I wasn't being any help.

"I'll go then." I said as I hopped down from the tree we hung out on today.

"No!" Tyler shouted as I started to walk away. I then turned around and he pulled me into a tight hug. "Please don't leave me." He said in a muffled whine while his head was in my chest.

"I don't want to but your mom doesn't think I'm a good influence on you. I know about you and your state of mind. I know why they think I'm not a good influence. You're not crazy." I said as I held him close.

Tyler lifted his head and looked me in the eyes. "You're my best friend and I had nobody like you. You've helped me when Jay died and you helped me when blurry was out to get me. I just need you more then ever.

I didn't want to go against his mother but I thought again. 'What if he died and I wasn't there to help him. He did indeed need me. I thought I liked him but I didn't want to rush into a relationship.

All I just said is, "I'll stay. Even though your mother doesn't like me I'll stick around." I formed a forced grin and I could tell Tyler knew it was forced.

We walked back to the car and as I unlocked it the air felt warmer then it did inside my car. As I turned it on Tyler and I rubbed our hands together to create warmth from the friction. We also put our hands in front of the heaters blowing warm toasty air out.

I put my already warms hands onto Tyler's and he smiled. "Okay, they're warm enough." He said. I then turned on the radio and we san as we drove home. It was almost seventeen as I looked at the little clock on my dash. He didn't have to be home until nineteen. I thought I should just take him home anyway.

We got to the front of his house and we sat in silence until Tyler broke it. I was actually relieved.

"Okay. I had fun today." He turned his head so we could make eye contact. "I really did." He said assuring me. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." He said as I unlocked the door.

"See you tomorrow. We'll kill it tomorrow and Mock Rock." I nodded and so did he. "It'll be sick!" I said as I stressed out 'Sick'.

"So sick." Out fists bumped and he got out of the car and shut the door. I watched, as he got closer to his door. He waved at me and slipped inside.
