"Hey Kenz. Can I come over? I want to ask you something."

"Um, can we meet up tomorrow? I have a family thing on now."

"Sure. GJ's at 11?"

"Done."

I don't know what made me think that Kenzie knows what's up with Luke. But the amount of times I've caught them fighting over something, when they think nobody's watching. Points to the fact that she knows something.

I was about to call it a night, even though it was only 7pm on a Saturday night, when my phone rings.

"Hello?" I answer, forgetting to check caller ID.

"So how was the date?" Zac asks from the other end.

"Didn't I already answer that? I'm pretty sure I replied to your message."

"No? You gave me a vague answer. I want details woman."

I chuckle softly.

"I won. I kicked his ass, both in the game of bowling and laser tag."

"That's my girl!" He exclaims. I can just picture him smiling like an idiot.

"It was odd though." I sigh.

"How so?"

"It was like he didn't want to be there in the first place. I could tell he wasn't trying at all. Which in all the years I have known him, he has never backed down from a competition. Carter is the same."

Isaac was silent.

"And we was constantly looking at his phone. It was like he just took me out because he has to as a boyfriend."

I hear Zac sigh and then clear his throat.

"Char, maybe there is something going on." He ponders out loud. "He might be finding it hard to tell you and us."

"That's what I was thinking. And I have a funny feeling Kenz knows more than what she is letting on."

"Have you spoken to her?"

"Not yet. She was busy tonight so we are meet up for coffee tomorrow." I explain.

The line goes dead again.

"Isaac?"

He doesn't respond, but I can still hear the faintness of his breathing through the phone. It's quiet for a few more minutes. I am about to call his name again when he speaks up.

"Yeah, I'm here. I was going to go catch some waves down the beach tomorrow, but I can come with you instead if you want?"

I take a deep breath, starting to feel anxious about what Kenzie might have to say.

"Thanks, but I think I should go alone." I hear Zac sigh. "But if you are still at the beach, I can meet you there afterwards."

"Sounds good. I'll text you if I leave, before you get there."

"Cool. Well I'm going to go read a bit before I go to bed."

"Alright. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress about what Kenz might or might not know okay?"

"I'll try not to. Night Zac."

"Night."

I pull the phone away from my ear and about to hang up when he calls out.

"Wait! Char!"

"Yeah?"

"You know I'm always here for you right?"
