My day was planned perfectly. I had a date with myself, my bed, the entire series of Gilmore Girls, and a large amount of junk food Lorelai and Rory would be proud of. That is until Isaac barged into my room as I was halfway through the second episode of season one.
The mischievous smirk plastered on his face told me that my perfect day had just been ruined. He grabbed my remote and turned the TV off. I glared at him.
"Zac, what do you think you are doing?"
"Get up lazy bones, we are going out." He states ignoring my question.
"Uh, no. I have a date with Lorelai and Rory today."
"Not anymore you don't." He states as he rips the blanket off me, exposing me to the cool spring air.. "Cute pjs." He says with a wink.
"What's wrong with Disney?"
He chuckles. "Nothing, I wouldn't expect anything else from you. But it's still practically winter and those are for summer." He indicates to my grey singlet top with Minnie Mouse in the centre and the matching short shorts that have a Minnie Mouse pattern.
"That's why I had the blanket on." I say reaching for the blanket. Isaac slaps my hand away.
"No, no more lazing in bed. You are not spending your 18th birthday alone curled up in bed."
"But-" Zac cuts me off.
"No buts. I am taking you out and you will love it." I pout at him. "So come on, quit your sulking and get dressed."
He walks out of my room and I hear him talking with Grandma. Sighing, I sit in bed and sulk a little longer. But when I hear Grandma call out telling me to hurry up, I knew I wouldn't win and went to get dressed.
I walk out of my room a few minutes later and join them both in the kitchen.
"Okay, you got me out of my room and I am dressed. This better be good Issac because I don't feel much like celebrating."
"Oh, it is." I eye him sceptically. "But if we don't go now we will be late."
"Late for what?"
"That's for me to know and you to find out. And I am not telling you a thing."
He stands up and motions for me to follow him. After giving Grandma a quick kiss on the cheek, I follow him out the door. We stay silent as I follow him to the unknown location.
Zac leads me to the bus stop and checks to make sure we haven't missed it.
"Good we made it on time. Should be here in a few minutes. Do you have your myki?" I check my purse and nod. "Good. Now one last thing, are you wearing socks at all with those shoes?" He points to my vans on my feet.
"Yeah, only small ones though. Does it matter?" I ask.
"Maybe, we will see when we get there." He states as the bus arrives.
"And where is there?"
"You will just have to wait and see won't you." He teases as we find seats on the bus.
I cross my arms over my chest and pout.
"You know I hate surprises, Zac." He just laughs and taps my thigh a few times with his hand.
It grows quiet between us for the rest of the ride. Thirty minutes later we arrive in the next town over. As we get off the bus, Isaac grabs my hand and with his free hand blocks my vision.
"Zac what are you doing?!"
"Chill girl! I just want this to be a surprise. You aren't allowed to see until we get there. Don't worry it's only around the corner."
