Pippa's POV
It is 6:56 and I'm finally done getting ready. I am wearing a semi-formal red dress with a cream scarf and a red clutch. Of course, red converse as well. I don't really want to wear makeup right now, even though I feel I should.... I know this should be for Lin but, he will understand.
I walk out of my room and see Sebby working on a Chuggington puzzle. The door bell rings and I go to answer it. I know who it is so I don't have to worry about names. Luckily.
"Hi, it's so great to meet you, Emily!" I greet her warmly.
"Aww, thank you so much! You know, I like to think Lin and I are pretty good friends by now, and he talks about you non-stop. No pun intended," we laugh, "but seriously. I think he really likes you. It's great to meet you, the girl he is always fawning over," I blush.
"Thank you, come in come in," she steps through the doorway and Sebby's head snaps up and he rises to greet her as well.
"Hey Emmy!!!"
"Hi sebs," she kneels down and hugs him, "are you ready to have a fun night??"
"Yeah! Emmy this is my mommy."
I look at down Sebby and smile, then back up at Emily. She smiles back.
"Yo are y'all having a party without me?" Lin says.
"Haha daddy you're silly,"
"Yes, you are silly. Listen to your son," Emily retorts with a smile, "and you are also late. Pippa has been waiting. I can call you that, right?" Everyone is cautious to call me Pippa and idek why.
"Yes," I say laughing, "you can call me Pippa." I grab my black peacoat and put it on.
"You know what do to, Emily?"
"Of course. We have done this many times, just, go get your date on."
I blush. Who even puts it like that?? What is that even supposed to mean??!! At that moment Lin starts dancing a little and snapping with the beat. Or a beat...
"You know it," he says. I put my hand up over my eyes so I don't have to watch whatever is happening here.
"Hah," he laughs, "it's already going so well. Ready pip?"
"Of course. Bye Sebby," I hug him and kiss his cheek, "bye Emily, it's so great to meet you."
"Bye sebs. Be a good boy," Lin does the same, "thank you Emily."
"No problem."
Lin offers his arm which I gladly take.
"Let's go."
"Yeah," I say smiling.
As we walk out the door together Emily yells: "make good choices!"
We laugh and walk to the car. Since Lin is a resident, he gets a permit and the car is one street over.
Once we get there, he opens the door for me.
"Thanks Lin," I say blushing.
"Anything for you," before I get in he kisses my cheek.
After we are both in he starts driving. I'm not sure where we are going, but I hope it's dinner because I'm pretty hungry.
"Alright Pips, so I got us a reservation at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay for 7:30, is that okay with you? Because we can go somewhere else if you want," he is nervous and I find it so amusing.
"Lin, that's fine. Why are you so nervous?"
"I just.. I want this to go well."
"Aw. It's going to go well," I out my hand on his arm, "don't worry about anything."
"Okay. Okay yeah. Do you want to listen to music? Preferably Hamilton?
"Hah, sure. I haven't listened to that is such a long time. I miss the show, I miss the people," I frown thinking all of the good memories from Hamilton that have past and gone.
"Hey, Pip it's okay. Let's put on a peppy song."
He clicks the power button for the stereo, goes to disk 3 and puts it on shuffle. Of course, completely ironically, It's Quiet Uptown plays. We skip that and it is Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story.
"Gosh darn it WHY!" He exclaims, obviously frustrated.
"Lin, it's okay."
"No it's not I just want an upbeat song for you so you can feel better."
"Hey, I do feel better... cuz you care," I interlace his fingers with mine, "now, let's see if we have any luck..."
"Yes!" We yell at the same time. Wait For It starts playing and it is both of our favorite songs. We sing our hearts out and its so fun, possibly the most fun I've had in a very long time. The song starts to end and Lin looks over to me.
"Woah. How could I forget how amazing your voice is?"
"Thanks Lin."
The rest of the drive is just us jamming out to Hamilton. After our initial unluckiness, things started to turn up and the energetic tunes start playing, including Room Where it Happens and Non-Stop. The music continues to play until we arrive at the high end restaurant.
There aren't many places to park, so Lin puts the car a few blocks over. He gets out first and opens the door for me.
"Thanks Lin," I say immediately hugging myself because it is 20 degrees but the wind has picked up so it feels like single digits. We start walking and Lin notices my shivering. Immediately, with no hesitation, he takes off his coat and puts it around my shoulders.
"But Lin," I starts. He just puts his finger over my mouth to stop me from talking.
"You were cold."
"Not really," I try to argue. He raises his eyebrows and starts walking backwards in front of me. Why? I don't know. At least now I can actually get a good look at what he's wearing. Lin has brown shoes, nice khakis, and a black suit top and tie. (Is that what it's called??)
"You were shivering mad and your lips are purple. And I know when you're lying to me. So yeah you were," Lin says with a smirk. I just roll my eyes and smile, "exactly. I'm right"
