Christen Press x Whitney Engen
Shipname: Chrisney

End of the season parties were always a tradition among the USWNT players. This year it was a pool party at Alex's house down in Orlando. It felt like it was still summer, though it was in November.

Christen sat by the pool with a mixed alcoholic drink in hand. She dipped her feet in and smiled slightly. The water at the shallow end was comfortably warm, just like the day. She looked around to see the smiling faces of her teammates. There was something missing- more like someone. It had been a little while since Whitney was let go of from the team.

If anything Christen was more distraught than Ashlyn was. She went into denial for quite a few days. Sure Whit isn't the best defender in the world, but she had enough spirit to motivate herself and her teammates.

Christen quickly downed her drink and set the glass next to her. Everyone (minus Jill) except Whitney was there. Heck even Hope Solo was there! She let out a sigh as her angry thoughts turned into calm, happy ones.

"What's wrong Pressy?" Questioned Hope sitting next to the forward.

Christen shook her head as she looked down at the water. "Just thinking of when the team was all here."

Hope's once smiling face turned sour. "You mean before Heather retired, before Whitney got fired, and before my contract ended?" She almost spat. Luckily Hope remember who she was talking to. Her voice started out hard, but softened.

"Yeah, before all of that."

She patted Christen's shoulder as her form of sympathy. "Look, Whit will- might show up. You never know what Alex has up her sleeve."

"How did you know I was thinking of Whitney?"

Hope rolled her eyes, finding it quite obvious. "Because if she was here you would be attached to her hip the entire time. And she's the only one whose not here."

Her cheeks picked up a slightly rosie tint as she listened to Hope. "You can read me like a cheap romance novel." She murmured, tracing her finger around the rim of her glass.

"Like a cheap romance novel maybe, but one that has a good plot. Or something." Hope looked down at the pool water, ripples came through every so often. "I find it cute how you finally have room in your heart for someone." She remembered Christen's last partner was this lone wolf kind of guy. During the whole Germany 2011 Women's World Cup, she remembered Kelley talking to her on the phone no matter what time it was.

Christen looked up at Hope. "It kind of feels nice."

Alex stood on one of the chairs and clapped her hands loudly. "Everyone, I have a surprise for you." She said, voice a little more hoarse than usual. Probably from screaming a lot during the pool volleyball tournament.

Hope helped Christen up. The two walked a little closer, curious as to what Alex had in store. The tall brunette looked over at Carli, who just gave her a shrug.

Julie got out of the pool and stood next to Christen. It was undeniable that the young blonde had a crush on Christen. Since Whitney left she has slowly been making her move. Sadly, Christen seemed a bit oblivious to her puppy love. She let out a sigh as Chris didn't give her an ounce of attention.

Alex smiled down at them all. She was clearly excited to show them all her surprise. "A few months ago a loss devastated our team." Many eyes tracked over to Heather, who was sitting in a chair eating a bowl of fruit.

Heather rolled her eyes at those who turned to look at her. "Alex is talking about the other loss. I know, the confusion is real."

A few people giggled at Heather's words.

"Anyways! When we lost Whit we lost an amazing teammate, an amazing supporter, and an even more amazing friend." She paused to create some suspense among her friends. "That is why I have invited her here today." She climbed off of the chair and opened the sliding glass door.

Whitney stepped out in a pretty white two piece bikini. She gave them all a small wave.

Christen's eyes lit up and she let out a squeal. "Move out of the way bae is gonna get her some bae!" Shouted Kelley, surprisingly making people move out of the way

She wrapped her arms around Whitney's body. It felt nice to be in the same room as her, without being rivals. Christen gave one last squeeze before pulling away. "Um, hey Whit."

The blonde chuckled at Christen's adorable awkwardness. "I missed you too, Chris." Whitney smirked as she placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked into Christen's unique eyes. They seemed a little different, maybe it was her dialated pupils.

"Let's get to the party, OK?"

Whitney nodded, taking Christen's hand into her own.

Let's just say later on in the night two drunken soccer players hooked up. It was the best time they had together.
