It's been weeks since I was put under the same teacher as Duncan. I have to admit it's amazing to work with him. In just a few days we had covered hundreds of spells, each one with it's own properties but all linked together somehow. I know he's all impressed with the speed at which I learn and my capacity to understand and decipher what he says is an enigma to students of  our level.

"I'm done here." Duncan said, closing a book with a title saying Medieval Magic. I pause with the one I am reading and look up at him, deep in thought.

  "What?"

"I'm thinking." I explained, fixing his forehead in concentration. I know he is trying to read my mind again like he always does. His eyes narrow each time I block him successfully. Smirking, I continued to read through the lines.

"What are you reading?" Duncan suddenly pulled the book I was reading. "Red!" I protested. "Ah, History Of The Four Lands why am I not surprised… interesting." He says, while examining the pages.

  "Duncan Crowe,"

"Yes, lady Giles?" He says, with a bad imitation of the English accent. "Your family is one of the ancient that exists?" I enquired.

"Is that mentioned here?" He asks, obviously not impressed. "I've came across some lines, yes." I told him. "Why didn't you ever tell?" I asked, my voice betraying a curious accusatory tone.

"You never asked." He said then sighed and set back the book on the table before me. “How was I to know?” He turned to face me, his dark eyes fixing me carefully. I looked back at him expectantly.

  "What?"

He grinned down at me, then opened his mouth to say something but closed it again. "Well.. " I said when he continued to study me carefully. His eyes travelled down my face to my neck and back up to my lips making me feel uncomfortable. His grin slowly disappeared and he was all too serious now for me to like. He took both my hands in his long ones then lifted them to his face, his eyes never living mine. I took a small breath in, but let my hands rest in his. He pulled and pressed both my palms on either side of his face; fingers on his temples. I cocked my head to the left in confusion.

"The Aperandis Elemenaro is a spell which allows the caster to sift through memories of whoever is targeted," he started in a whisper. "We've read about this once, and I want you to try it on me." He told.

"Red, this is ridiculous. I'm not going to inside your head__"

  "Shhh..., trust me, okay?"

“Okay” but I was still reluctant to try.

Duncan held my hands in place firmly and looked at me straight into my pleading eyes.

"Listen, I will only concentrate on the memories I want you to see. Don't worry, you're not going to see me in any embarrassing posture," he reassured then raised his left eyebrow. "You don't really think I'll wound that badly the reputation I've had a hard time pulling up on your behalf, do you?" I grinned sheepishly.

"You never miss any opportunity to talk about yourself, do you?" I giggled.

"Not when you're around." He said as I stopped grinning. "You're powerful, it's impressive, but it makes me less prominent." He said sadly pouting.

I rolled my eyes. "Can we start already?" I said, more than fed up with the constant praise of his little person.

"I'm done." He said, raising his hands in surrender.

I closed my eyes. "Tell me when you're ready." I informed.

Duncan waited for a few seconds before signalling me to start. "Okay, go ahead."
