chapter vii. WiSHiNG

it's like wishing for rain while standing in the desert.

"i realized
something,
louis"

"and
what's that,
love?"

"i'll
never
be okay"

"yes,
you will;
we will"

"no,
i won't.
i can wish,
but it
won't
come true"

-----

my eyes
never left
the picture of
us.

from our
second date
in a
record store.

we
called it
"forgetting"
when we
were
rented by
sorrow.

and I
loved
the way
he smiled
at me.

everything
froze
and I swear

he only
ever
smiled
with me.

I loved
the way he
talked,
and his
eyes
they shone in
the starlight.

but
even then
I fear that
my wish for
purity,
simplicity,
peace --

I fear
they are
impossible.

I
am in
the desert,
dry of
happiness.

and
all I want,
is
just a little
rain.
