I walk to my car feeling a lure of sadness that she turned down my offer to come over again. I open the door sliding in as she shuts the door completely. I back up out of her driveway making my venture back home. The silence of the car lets my thoughts roar inside my head. What plans does she have today? When will she come over? Why am i so interested in Ava? How does she know James? Why is she so scared of James? These thoughts pin-balling around my brain. Ava a real mystery. I thumb my fingers over my steering wheel as i drive trying to piece her together, but big pieces of that puzzle are still missing. I rub my tongue over my lips as i let my thoughts roam. Every thought about Ava. She is different, but i don't know how yet. Everything about her is alluring to me. I shake my head. No, i can't like Ava she doesn't want someone like me i scold myself. She deserves better i remind myself and silence my thoughts. I pull into the driveway and park the car breathing out a weighted breath. Everything in me says to go for Ava, but my mind says no. I run a hand through my hair staring at the pathway to the house. I can decide my feeling about her when i find the missing puzzle pieces i think. Although i fear i may like her even more after i figure her out. I let my eyes wander as i come to this agreement. I snap out of my thoughts when i see a man on the other side of the street behind my gates. I get out of the car grabbing my gun and stuffing it into my waistband. A man in a black shirt and blue jeans stands there. He has blond hair and is leaning against a black suburban. My mind jumps to James, but what would he want. I walks slowly over in the direction of him. I notice his mouth is turned into a smirk. His eyes are trained on me. He watches my steps and i move my hand toward my gun. This isn't right my mind bellows out at me. He keeps staring at me as i move closer to my gates. This really isn't right. His smirk only widens as i walk inches away from the gates. He seems to laugh to himself before he looks at me and turns. I freeze in my spot wrapping my hand around my gun waiting to pull it out. He open the door and gets in. I feel a wave of confusion hit as i watch him drive off his smirk the only thing i could see through the tinted windows. I feel a wave of uneasiness hit me. Ava did say James was watching, but she also said he doesn't want to be seen. Was him sending a lackey to scare me a threat. I stare at the spot that the car had been in still frozen. I release my gun and turn toward the house walking in. What just happened?
