I watch as the nerd walks away from us her body tense. James stands on the steps of the school watching her like prey. He runs a hand through his hair before glancing back at her retreating figure with a glare. He nods his head at us and walks around us. I hear his bike take off as he zooms away. "She knows James" Trevor says taken back by what just happened. They had kept there conversation quiet, but there expressions rang volumes. The nerd had an expression of hatred as she stared at James. I snap back into reality and rush to my car the boys following suit. I slide in and rush out of the school toward the way the nerd retreated. I see her wobbly rising from the sidewalk anger shouting off of her body. I swallow the lump in my throat as she stomps her way down the street. She ends up at a dingy brown one story house with a green yard and a wired gate surrounding it. I reach for my door handle, but i'm stopped by Trevor. "You need to give her time" he says. "Time, we need to know how she knows James" I ground out at him. "Did you see her reaction to James" He ask. "Yeah, sooo" i question. "How she knows James isn't pleasant" He says. I nod as he continues "If we want information we need to give her time to breath." I nod again. He is right. If we go now she will be even more flipped out. I put the car in drive and speed away from her house. At least i know where she lives. "I don't get it how does the nerd know James" I voice my thoughts aloud. Trevor chuckles "If she knows James she isn't much of a nerd" he says. I nod in agreement. "He called her Love" Jason says in confusion. I don't nod this time. I keep my eyes trained on the road. "I'm here to get something that belongs to me" I quote James as they look at me. Jess's eyes widen, but return to normal like he was dismissing a thought. I shrug it off and continue to drive. The nerd knows James. Those words bounce around my head craving an answer. I replay the scene over and over again. However she knew him it wasn't in a pleasant way. Jason was right he called her love. He gave her a title. I play back the scene when he grabbed her arm. She looked like she had been stuck in that position more than once. The way she gritted her teeth not giving in to his painful hold. She isn't much of a nerd. She is something in disguise. I let my thoughts wonder as i continue down the road. She isn't much of a nerd keeps replaying in my head. I shake my head slightly at the thought. No she isn't.
