After we were done shopping, Ellie's Mom brought me home. I had sorted out my clothes and instantly went to sleep.
I woke up in the morning and decided to go check the mail, first thing. I had gotten the usual, coupons, a bill reminder, neighborhood magazine. Except there was this one thing out of the ordinary. I had saw something labeled, To Natalie Longford From the counselors at Millennium School of Fine Arts and Prodigies. The first thing I did was open it. I mean, it was addressed to me.
When I opened it I was surprised to see a letter for me and my class schedule. The letter said
Dear Natalie,
Welcome to Millennium, The most high rated preparatory for advanced children in the country. In the list there are schools such as SILVER VALLEY PREP and DA VINCI ACADEMY but you were selected out of the few to come to Millennium. Here we expect high standards from you seeing as if you are one of the the most high up in this country in you school work and/or fine art works. Although we expect all very high of you, we also want for you to be comfortable and expressive so we allow for you, the student to be expressive in clothing. All we ask is to not wear something that is very offensive to the school, students or school system. Lastly we have sent in you schedule for this semester. Lunch will be in between your 5th and 6th class. Congratulations and we wish you the best of luck while here. ~Millennium School of Fine Arts and Prodigies.
I took out my my schedule to see my classes.
SKETCHING, WIND SYMPHONY, THEATER III, VARSITY VOLLEYBALL, HISTORY, SCIENCE, MATH, ENGLISH.
I had a decent schedule. I took out my phone to go text Ellie to compare schedules but the I remembered that we weren't going to the same school any more. It really upset me even more but I was really excited and nervous for school to start.
A week had gone by sense I had gotten my schedule and school was approaching quickly as in today was August 20, 2017 quickly. I had been preparing all this time then I had suddenly I had the idea to invite all my friends over for a sleepover. I had thought it was the only was to see them for a while so I called up my friends Ellie, Kelley, Maddie and Gabby. They all agreed to come over so I headed to the store to grab a few items for the party. I grab a butt load of chips, two bottles of soda, and so many cupcakes.
The first person to arrive was Gabby, of course. Gabby was always early to everything. Sometimes she would make me think that she had a fear of being late. What would that be called, lateophobia? Gabby and I didn't really get the chance to talk to her before Ellie showed up. I was so glad that Ellie showed up, she always knew how to carry a conversation and knew I wasn't going to do well in a conversation about going to Millennium without her being there for support. Last people to show up were Kelley and Maddie. They always went to places together so they obviously showed up together. Yet then what I dreaded were the conversations, I didn't know what was going to come up. Then out of the blue Ellie grabbed me and said, "Hey guys, I need to go take care of something. Nat, could you come with me?" and then I was gone. I was pulled into the kitchen and Ellie started whispering something to me." Yeah, uh, Natalie, wow you can tell something is wrong when I say 'natalie' . Anyways... I didn't tell those three where you are going to school. . ."
I stood in shock. I had frozen up. I couldn't believe what I heard. I felt a shiver down my back. I was cold but sweating at the same time. Ellie was my best friend but she had never let me down more.
"YOU DID WHAT!?!" I lost my cool. She had promised me. i felt as if she had been playing with my emotions. On a day I was vulnerable. I was about to crack.
"Shhh. The louder you are the more they will question us in here-" Ellie whispered.
I had finally went out of control. "NO! You have been playing with my emotions since our trip to the mall! I open up to up and all you do is let me down? Maybe it was good that moved schools!" In the middle of my breakdown, the rest of the girls walked in, wondering what had been happening in the kitchen. Badly enough, they heard that last part loud and clear.
"Wait, your leaving us?" Gabby asked. she sounded so upset. I was silent.I really had nothing else to say.
"Yes, yes she is."Ellie said. someone had to break the silence and i just happened to be her.
"Where? Where could you have possibly gone that is better than being with us?" Maddie sounded so bitter with every word she spoke.
I started crying. "Millennium.I-I'm going to Millennium." Through my cries I felt no sympathy. I didn't expect any either. I didn't get to tell them the way I wanted to tell them where they would understand. The entire 'Ellie' situation was happening again but somehow, it was worse this time. My favorite thing about silence is that it give you time to think, that was the only thing we had did at this point. Kelley finally broke the silence. Not something she would do.
"So, that's it? Your just gone? Why did you invite us here in the first place then? So you can rub it in our faces? You know what, go have fun at your stupid school. For all I care you can never talk to me again." Kelley was strong but you could tell she wanted to cry. But what hurt me even more was when she took off the friendship bracelet that me and her made in 5th grade basket weaving class, the class we met each other in. She threw the bracelet off with so much force that it bounced off the ground.
Kelly then stormed off to the game room where we were all going to sleep.
Gabby couldn't even look at me and followed Kelley.
Maddie tried to stay. She wanted to say something to me but didn't have the guts to and went to the game room.
Ellie just stared at me.
"I tried to tell you." then Ellie followed the rest of the girls.
