Charlie and I walked into our sketching class, holding hands, while Sophie talked her mouth off about our relationship. We saw Whitney in her seat and waved at her. Her jaw dropped as we sat down next to her.
"Hey" I said and smiled at her
"What?" Was the the only words she could muster out.
"You can pick your jaw up off the ground" I laughed
"What happened this weekend?!?!?" She asked, confused why we were holding hands and why Sophie was not losing her mind over us two.
I sighed while softly laughing. "Well, Charlie and I went on a date" I leaned my head on his shoulder "and then my parents came home. Afterwards he asked me to be his girlfriend." I told her, giving both her and Sophie the short version.
Whitney sat in shock, still not understanding how any of this was happening. We all sat down in our seats, seemingly ignoring Whitney's confusion.
"I need ANSWERS!!!" Whitney exclaimed. "You guys we basically awkward with each other and now this?! And what do you mean your parents came home?"
I sighed, not in the mood to explain things. "Look, he asked me throughout the week if we could go on a date because I was feeling really depressed and stuff. so ya know, we went out and as one does, he asks me to be his girlfriend. And with my parents, they were on a cruise and they finally came home." I pulled out my sketchbook and pencils and got ready for class.
Whitney still sat there more confused as ever because it seemed as if I wasn't clear. "Look Whitney, I don't care if you don't like this but like could you respect it?" I told her in an annoyed voice. I couldn't really pinpoint what my problem was but I snapped at her anyways.
"I didn't say anything, I mean, I'm happy for you!" she replied. All I could really do was just sigh and roll my eyes.
We ended up not talking for the rest of the period, up until lunch. Like normal, I waited for Charlie so we could walk to lunch together but he was taking longer than normal. Whitney and Sophie ended up walking up to me. "Hey, what are you waiting for?" Sophie asked, confused why I was sitting outside the gym all alone.
"Not what, who really. And Charlie, he's taking entirely too long and I don't know why." I said, genuinely sad.
"Lets just head to lunch, he'll catch up later." Whitney softly suggested, maybe hoping not to trigger me again.
"No, I want to wait for him, will you wait with me?" I lightly held Sophie and Whitney's hands.
They both looked at each other and sighed. "Of course we will." Sophie said as they sat down next to me. I took my sandwich out my lunchbox and took a bite out of it.
"So why were you two just showing up? I thought that you'd both be at the lunch table."
Whitney spoke up "I was taking a test and on the way to the lunchroom, from the other side of the school of course, I saw you waiting so I grabbed Sophie and made her come over here and check on you with me"
I smiled "That's really sweet of you. I'm sorry for going off at you earlier this morning, I don't know what came over me."
"It's fine, we all make mistakes you know?" Whitney responded as I took another bite of my sandwich.
Charlie finally walked out of the locker room and I quickly stood up. I sat back down and picked up my stuff and then got up and walked to Charlie. He lightly kissed me and helped me get myself together. "Sorry it took me so long. I wanted to take a shower but all the other guys were taking too long. I'm really sorry"
All I could do was just hug him. "It's ok, I had some company so it's all good." We interlocked fingers and walked to the cafeteria with our friends.
The rest of the day ended up moving really slow, as well as the rest of the week, Meaning that it was just one week closer to my birthday.
Sorry that this chapter is shorter than normal, want to focus the next chapter on Charlie and Natalie's relationship as well as they're birthdays so cutting this chapter short works best for the plot. be on the lookout for the next chapter of this and hopefully, the first chapter of Forever Unbound. I'm trying to write a good amount of chapters/the plot before I start posting either weekly chapters or bi-weekly chapters. Thank you so much for reading this so far and if you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to leave them.
