I decided to take a nap. Once I woke up, I called my friend Ellie to see if she wanted to go shopping with me. I hadn't seen her all summer and I eventually had to break the news to her that I wasn't going to school with her this year. I knew she was going to be disappointed. She met me at my house and we took a Guxi (like uber or lyft) over to the mall.
"So, Have you gotten you schedule yet!?! I'm really eager to see the classes we have with each other." Ellie was so happy and I was just not ready to tell her the news. I had met her in sketching class. The teacher sat me next to her in 3rd grade and we clicked. I remember that as a 3rd grader, she was really good at sketching.
"Um, actually, i'm not enrolled in at Silver Valley anymore. I'm supposed to go to Millennium School of Fine Arts and Prodigies." After I had told her, the car ride got very silent and awkward. I had knew I had upset one of my most loyal friends.
"What do you mean? You always go to Silver Valley, that's where me and all of our other friends are." Ellie had said this in such a upset tone.
"Believe me Ellie, I am just as upset as you are. I had no say in this. I guess I qualified for this school and I was enrolled" I was on the bridge of crying. I knew this was going to happen.
"Yeah, sure. Everyone at Silver Valley and surrounding schools know that the hardest school and best school to get in is Millennium. You finally made it and decided to leave us. I'm not surprised, didn't think you cared about us anyway for the fact that we haven't seen you all summer." Now Ellie was getting the wrong idea. I don't know how else to tell her that my entire family left me and I had to care for myself instead of having summer fun.
"You know I love you! You know I love all of my friends! You want to know why I've been gone all summer? Its because I had to fend for myself while Mikayla, my mom and dad and everyone else I know left me and went on a endless cruise to who knows where! They could be DEAD and I wouldn't know." That's when I started crying. I had stayed calm all this summer but after this discussion I had let loose of all my emotions in this random Guxi car. I could tell she finally understood me and where I was coming from. I decided to tell Ellie something else once I had calmed down," That's why I invited you to the mall with me. I felt bad that I hadn't seen you all summer and I didn't want to go school clothes shopping alone. I wouldn't go to Millennium without you...you know that right?"
"Yeah...I don't know how this school year is going to turn out without you." the silence grew longer. "...can we forget about all of this and...go shopping?" Ellie asked. I was so glad she understood me and was ready to forget all this. By this point we were both crying and this Guxi ride seemed like it was going on for too long. We had eventually arrived to the mall. I had checked the time and it had only been a 6 minute ride, exactly what it should have been. For Ellie and I, it felt like an hour. We got out of the car, I payed the driver what I owed and we went inside.
It was kind of awkward for the both of us after the entire car incident, but after we found some pretzels, we started connecting like it was 3rd grade again." So, how are you going to tell Kelley and them?" Ellie asked. She had a point. I wasn't even planning on telling Ellie. She asked and I told her.
"I don't know Ellie..." I had no ideas except for one. "Maybe you could tell them for me? Please, I don't want what happened to us in the car happen with me and them!"
"Sure, I guess I can." This is why I love Ellie, She was willing to do this for me. " Now lets stop being soppy and get you some clothes!"
